Whenever I have someone asking me about learning kiteboarding I tell them not to bother unless they 1) live by a great kiting spot or 2) are willing to move. If you can't kite where you live it's an expensive waste of your time...
Yes kite close to where you live helps (1 minute)
Yes working close to where you live helps (5 minutes)
Yes working hours where you can leave at 3:30pm everyday (5 day work week/part-time 30hrs)
Yes living in a climate where water is liquid all year long...the sunshine state...on the Atlantic side
Yes owning a large kite to minimize getting skunked in 8 knots...and maximize sessions
Yes being married 19 years to a woman who understands me...because she is also a kitesurf freak
A lot of Yes is needed...to do a lot of kitesurfing
