My Infinity v1 is a terrible light wind kite if you don't want to ride straight down wind, its also useless for jumping when the wind picks up.
It got decent pop and wave abilities then you reach about 15knots, but you got better alternatives in those winds.
It is also badly balanced in the way that it steers heavily down towards the water, witch makes it hard and uncomfortable to steer with only one hand, so also not good for relaxing cruising.
The v2 is not that mush better (there is a couple of guys that for sure will say it is light years better than the v1, just as they said that the v1 was mush better than others when it came, but any thinking being must have realized that they are full off bull-crap by now), so my advice is to look for another big kite.
.....I was curious about a few things.
What is the recommended top end of the V2 or V3 wind range?
Generally, at what wind speed can you hold descent upwind?
If you are considering buying this kite (and probably not needing it until spring) should you wait until the V3 is out?
I appreciate your recommendation to demo both kites. It says alot about your confidence, but getting to demo kites when you live in the center of the US and only get to the coast 4 to 6 times a year is not likely. I am definitely going to buy a new low wind kite before next season, but I will most likely have to depend on recommendations and reviews to make my decision. The good thing about that is once I buy one, I still won't have the other kite to compare it to, so as long as it works well, "ignorance is bliss" and it will be the best kite ever.
Yesterday was a very light day but I wanted to go anyway because I had to try my new bar settings. A friend of mine was there using the V1. I was having a hard time with my kite so I gave the V1 a try, you know, just to get the feeling of easily tacking upwind. Well, tacking upwind I did (almost) not ! That thing was pulling me downwind so hard I spent my time edging as hard as I could. That was no fun at all. I got back to my biggest kite, that is 9m, 22m lines + 5m extensions, largest bar setting, and that was much more fun ! I had to walk upwind a few times, but not so much after all. Not sure how much wind we had, local stat machine on the beach said between 9 to 12 knots, we were riding our usual TT (131x40 for me). I am about 78 kg, confirmed/advanced
Second thing I wanted to say after this experience, and after reading two constantly updated and totally useless epic thread : this has become far too much pimping, there is even a guy posting the epic banner ! come on guys ! I once was interested in the screamer, I am not anymore.
