What's up with the cost of airfare to Cabo? About a week ago there was a sudden increase in price of about 40% - for travel in mid-January. (For me it went up from $400 to $560, round trip).
I keep watching the fares but they're not coming down.
Are the airlines just trying to make a killing?

I've heard that Alaskan was discontinuing some flights to LaPaz. If this is true, than that may have something to do with it..?

It's $455 out of Oakland right now.....still kinda steep.

I would imagine Dec and Jan are the high seasons for flights to Cabo.

Yes, it is. It's just that over the past 8 years, the cost always went down just before Thanksgiving.
This year, it jumped 40%! The price of fuel has been on the decline so it must be other factors..


Yeah, I think San Jose is even cheaper. But by the time I pay for gas and extended parking,
I'm not saving any money.

Also, does anyone know if Delta, American or United make you pay extra for a checked in fake
"golf" (kite) bag? US Air hasn't hassled me about it over the past few years.

I've recently flown United and Delta with my 'golf bag' and no problems.

Flew American and had big problems. Paid $200 AND they lost it.....never fly American, at least I won't. It always depends somewhat on the individual that you get at check-in. Some are militant and some are nice. A box of chocolate and a smile help.

I finally took the plunge and bought my ticket on Delta. They say the 1st checkin is free.
I hope they don't charge extra for the large 'golf' bag.
