Do you carry kite gear around on a bike? If so, how do you do it? Bonus points for pics of your setup.

That's my KLR650 in the ADVrider thread. Carrying a twin tip and a couple kites isn't too big of a deal. You can just strap the board down under the kites at the rear of the bike. The board can go sideways or in line with the bike depending on what you prefer.

If you want to carry a surfboard you need a side rack. I'm not too keen to bother with a surfboard on a motorcycle myself unless it was just local low speed riding.

Be sure to pack your towel and other loose fabric well. A buddy of mine got his towel stuck in the front wheel of his MC while driving to the spot...

I think I learned this one the hard way but now its so easy. Wear your kite backpack and place the twintip lengthwise on the seat, fins down so you sit on the nose of the board just before the footpad. Its not gonna move, you wont take anyone out, and its not awkward to use any of the controls. I am assuming this is local transport 25k or less. If you have a second rider have them wear the backpack and sit on the board but a second board is tricky.

I had a KLR650 but it was too tall to ride on windy days. With this one I go 120km/h on a hwy and lean into turns normally. With strong crosswind I lean gentler not to get exaggerated by the board only as a procaution.

I like that old-school GS in the ADV thread.

We got a guy who rides a scooter... he stores all his gear at the clubhouse though. Funny thing is, he wears a helmet kiting but doesn't on the scooter. In Asia

The GS is tall too which is a bitch to drive on windy days. I find the old school jap cruisers are the best suitable. Something like Suzuki GS850 L heavier than mine but goes like snot on the hwy, low and good design to put large side cases and still look good which is rare on low cruisers.

how I roll.
I do get some looks
I've had it up to 90 mph getting on the freeway and had no issues with vibration or turbulence
would love to carry a surfboard, but think having it parallel with bike would be better
