Hi Ronnie

Sorry to confuse you, though one may already be "conditioned" lol by rules n regulations...
The example being, in Formula One racing - they convert wasted energy, some guy once said "every action has an equal and opposite reaction" F1 plays that hand twice..

In understanding what happens with foil shapes on Supersonic mach 3+ military aircraft that fall like bricks out of the sky (to say the least..) at low speeds - what looks like a speedy fin in effect may as well be a brick - reverse cavitaion means a shape change on the fin to begin with but absorbs the wasted energy - not converting it to forward motion... then obviously every other drag area board / wing etc

In designing foils or 'shapes' to reform flow at speed in boiling water or supersonic speed, you can understand that shape changes are necessary thus the transformer 'brick' style fins (if you like to call them that) attain fluid dynamics..

I think the F1 example is easier way of explaining it - though not litterally :D

Well, maybe I have a "closed mind", then, but the way I see it, I just have a low tolerance of ropey armchair technical talk from someone professing to have an " obvious solution" yet who cannot clearly layout the foundations of it. The post above is a good example. the analogy is bad , the context is wrong, and still no exposition of how this new magic would work in a sailing context. Another post or two and we will be onto the science of star-trek in all likelihod....

Sometimes you gotta call it as it is, instead of treating all comments made as equal in worth. Because they aren't.

Now forgive me if I just go get out of bed the other side and spit out the wasp I am chewing on while i'm about it. :wink:

I was confused, as I dont see what the F1 KERS system has to do with speed sailing.

The cavitation problem was already mentioned earlier in this thread and its a big issue that was written about by the Sailrocket crew.

I still dont understand what is new about what you are thinking of?

So you would like me to give you all the answers in a correctly spelt format - aint gonna happen lol till i finish building the prototype.. Someone else can do the editing - ill do the other 'stuff' and see what happens ??? Great to see some peoples thoughts and no dought - if you all sat down to nut out a plan, it would work very well - though the key being the opened mind of course ...
