Comments on Shinn Wave 148 x 44

Postby apctjb » Wed Jul 21, 2010 9:49 pm

Have an opportunity to purchase a Shinn Wave 148 x 44 (2008 but looks like new) and was wondering if anyone has any comments (good or bad) regarding the board construction/durability, conditions where the board is best suited for or best way to set the foot straps (there are alot of possibilities). I currently ride a twin tip but interested into riding surf style and was thinking this might be a good transistion board.

Any input is appreciated..

I have not ridden the Shinn Wave but I own a 2008 Slingshot Fuse which is a similar design concept and I love it. It performs as you describe and is a great transition board. I'm sure the Shinn is comparable.

Thanks;

So do you tend to ride your fuse like a twintip or do you jibe it.

What type of surf and wind conditions have you found best suited for your board?

Pretty much as described....when I first started riding it I probably rode it as a twin tip, now I just go toeside instead of riding fakey. I haven't jibed it because it goes upwind so nice toeside. So, I tend to ride it as a surfboard, but when shit hits the fan I can ride it goofy to get out of a jam. I am at the point where I should be spending most of my time on a true surfboard now, but the Fuse is so fun. :)

Also, its an ocean board. It's fun there. A lot of fun. But, it isn't a flat water board. When I bought it some people said it'd work as a lightwind flatwater board, but it doesn't have enough float for that. So, I use it exclusively in the surf.
