Hey numbnuts, he also said he wasn't tight either. There are second hand options. What do mean pimping again? I have no affiliation with any company or retailer, just a rider who has has a shit load of experience passing on a suggestion. Nice play on my name though, I will give you that.

A v2 60 will cost you in good shape +- 700$.

You could also get yourself a big Cabrinha raceboard; they were giving them away last season; 550$ for a brand new 2011 raceboard.

Try it with your actual kite and you might find that even if you cant kite in 8 knots you will still be amazed at what you can achieve.

I tried everything that allowed me to kite in light weather. One of the best combination that I've used was a Lithium 13m LW and a sector 60. I was able to kite in sub 10 knots weather; actually It must have been really close to 8 knots.

I dont ride it anymore as we are having less rain in the summer and the temperature are always warmer every year so the water level has been so low for the last 2 years I couldn't use it anymore.

My light wind kit is a Big Speed 3 Flysurfer Foil + a King George, but that will be too much for a student.

Anyway; try the sector option, you might actually discover something new and the best part is that even if the wind picks up you will still be having fun with that board. In 15 knots you won't believe how fast you can go. It will also give you some new skills on directional.

I have been having a lotof fun kite skating with a trainer kite and a skateboard when it's too light to get on the water.

On the water, I use a 17m Fluid Light Air and Litewave Wing 161 or a skimboard

I had the same problem. I was sick of sitting on the beach on light wind days so I bought a Blade Fat Lady 17m kite. I don't dream of light wind days, but at least now I know that if I get to the beach and there is any reasonable amount of wind I'll be able to ride.

I don't reget the decision to buy a big kite and I'll always have something large in my quiver.

The light wind kites have become popular so keep an eye out for used ones that will be sold cheaper after a season. These kites don't get used hard so they should last a long long time if you keep them out of the sun between sessions.

Make your own "light" wind board

I put one together a couple years ago. I use my regular kites on it... 11m c-kite... 10kts min.
It's 50cm x 165cm.... you can go bigger or smaller... whatever you want... don't need fins...
instead of footpads and straps you could just paste on a nice big pad like they use on a sup or windsurf board.
