No, too extreme for me. Don't want to get injured! And they want unhooked tricks as well...not my style! But there will be really good riders, so no need for me, I rather go where it has warm water and 20 knots I do hope that they have a live stream...just curious which hooked tricks they gonna show

So what sort have problems have folks had boosting some major jumps on return to earth? I have seen a number of pro riders back off the really big boosts over time, probably with good reason. Most of my bad ones are years in the past fortunately. I learned to slow down and be more picky about the setup and ramping wave. Still, there were some nice ones, explosions of stars on impact (borderline blackout), feeling pain from individual internal organs even with an impact vest on, beyond that it can really hurt. So, what has happened to folks out there with bad landings following really high jumps?

Like I said the last bad one was a while back say approaching nine years or longer in the past. I still enjoy boosting as high as conditions permit. There must've been some pretty bad experiences out there to shift the focus away from high jumps For many. So again, what happened?

Can a rider with a FOIL enter the competition (and try to win) or is it just for LEI kites ?

There doesn't seem to be anything about kite type in the rules. Thing is if you want to compete you need to get your promo video in there pronto. There will only be 4 out of area wild card competitors and they are to close the application process on Jan. 10. More at http://redbullkingoftheair.co.za/rules

Sure a foil rider can enter! Rick: why I don't want to jump high and do crazy things up there? Jumping high is an amazing feeling. But I know how many things can happen...and just jumping high doesn't do for me...it gets boring. I do jump high in my conditions, but don't like 30+ knots, since 1 mistake and that's it with this beautiful sport. And I still can push the sport by not risking injuries. And with 40+ you do think more about getting injured. So, let the kids do the show this time, I will wait for them in the next airstyle comp
