Guess it´s all about expectations

if it was Joe Doe releasing a clip with kite-loops under 50 knots I would be giving mad props

but from Len10 and some others I expect much more. I expect them to drive me to 2020

his video left a 2010 feeling

still would love to see it live. Should be something to remember

f*** that - it's his opinion and he's entitled to it... the best response you can make is "I don't agree" but to qualify it as doushy [sic] is illogical. And *douchy

Yes, it's a formulaic Len10/Red Bull video. But DAYUM I'm still impressed every time. That's just my opinion, though.

the reason i think it is a douchebag thing to say is that there are only a few people in the world who will go out in those conditions and do that. it is something to be respected. sure i can come on here and say "i do not agree" but that wouldn't do my disagreement any justice. taut's comments caused me to feel that he is being a bit of a guy and so i felt fine in calling him out as such.

yes, he is entitled to his opinions but when you come on a forum and show disrespect for the accomplishments of another you put yourself in the firing line. i am all for expressing your opinion but know that there are others who are going to have an opinion of your opinion. not saying he is a bad guy or anything but sometimes it is best to keep opinions to oneself.

EXCUSE me !!!!! There is only one at this time who is doing such things .... all the others (including me) staying in our cars or in a shelter cause the wind is so strong that can blind you

P.S. even if it looks easy for him ALWAYS can be a material failure (kite riped apart, broken line,CL accidently released, spreader breakage and many more) that you cant predict even if you check your gear before going in .... it happend to me and almost got killed

That video rocks! I showed my buddies at work and they could not believe the height and power Ruben was getting. These guys dont even kite and they were thoroughly impressed!
But, show them some technical handle pass f whatever w bend landing to blind into a darkslide over a kicker all at about 7 ft off the water like every other "training video" you see, and they really cannot appreciate whats happening.
Show them Len10 or Lewis jumping the pier and the first words are "holy f***".. Oh ya!

we all know that ... but some don't accept that ;-)

And good to know the world has its real kiteboarding event back: King of the Air !!!
finally people realize what the sport was missing...the show!

ahhh... i think you guys need to go easy on taut. all he states is that the vid is the same as his last vids. quite frankley it is the exact same theme. Suck down a red bull do something crazy.

I like to watch the crazyness. it amuses me. The vid could be way better if he got amongst the waves and punch some sweet lip to lip jumps and did some general goofing around.

Would i fly in those conditions? hell yes I live for storms like that. would I send it for a jump? yes indeed. would I throw a crazy mega loop. hell no!

I think Tautologies point is valid, but the problem is it came across as an attack on the athlete, rather than on the video style. The problem isn't with the accomplishment -- no one can argue that isn't insanely courageous and skillful. As I see it, the problem is with the perspective of the viewer. If you watch too much porn of any kind, be it surf porn, kite porn, or porn porn, after a while you get desensitized to it and it's not exciting any more. You start to see it as formulaic, mechanical, and boring. The only thrill is finding the next level of freakiness....bigger, faster, more exotic, whatever reignites that spark plug again.

The same comment can be made about those inevitable "driving to the beach" sequences in just about every kite video. Or the "now let's play with the local kids and teach them to kite/surf" sequence in the more socially conscious videos. Or the time lapse of clouds, trees, planes, traffic, etc in the more arty videos. We see them again and again and it eventually is tiresome.

So, if there's any issue, it's with the creativity of the video-makers, in following a formula rather than doing something truly new and creative. [And if it's a RedBull video, it's an advertisement, not art. It only needs to be creative enough to attract viewers interest enough to sell the product.....which is clearly accomplished here]

Anyways, in the end, the ultimate problem probably lies not with the video but with the viewer ... if you've seen-it-all and are jaded by it, maybe take it as a sign you're probably watching too many videos versus being out there doing stuff instead. And yes, before you take offence, that's a comment about myself first, stuck in this 8 to 5 office....dark when work starts and dark when I finish. I can't be out there kiting, so I'm on this forum instead, ha ha.

There's 2 more cents for the pile.

Signed, Mr. Office-Drone-who-wishes-he-was-out-playing-instead
