RG- I have gone to the 150 from both the 140 and King. I'm 140 pounds so the King felt big. Love the 150.........

140 is a good allrounder, better for jumping (but for jumping in flat there're better boards than Mako) 150 is better in bigger waves, strong wind, more upwind than the 140

Also curious if the 2013 have a different rail than the 2011.

new rails from what I've read should be round, less sharp than previous ones. probably better in waves, but finding an image seems really difficult....

I have an old 150 classic, a 137 and a King. Next on the purchase list is the 150. I will likely never go back to standard twin tips for the every day use board. I share my gears with my 13 years old dauther and she is even more than myself in love with the Mako.

so no-one here with a 2013 board that could upload a pic of new rails?

Thinking of a 130 as well as I'm getting increasingly addicted to power with my edges.

Thoughts on a 75kg dude with a king and 140 fellow mako riders?

I had the 150 and now own the 140. The 140 is much better for boosting off chop and waves and is more nimble, but not as smooth and not quite as good up wind. Also, the 150 planes earlier, and allows you to use a slightly smaller kite. The 140 rides like a smaller board. When conditions are ugly or nuclear it really shines.

MAKO RIDERS, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS???

I would love to see OR (or someone) come out with a mako that...:

- planes earlier
- has more pop
-but is not too long for ticks and maneuverability.
- but still eats chop for breakfast
- and still allows a neutral stance (no back leg fatigue)

Maybe dimensions like this:

length: 144cm
width: 43 cm
rocker: just a bit less than current designs
concave: 14-18 mm
weight: can it be made a bit lighter?

I realize that tooling etc costs a fortune. Maybe these could be build in a different way so to avoid the huge investment. Or maybe the woodie guys could try making something like this.

my woody "mako" which i just call a Fako is
145 X 42 with a bit less rocker and about 14 concave
weighs about the same with rounder rails

almost exactly what you are asking for and it ROCKS
best all around board i have ever ridden
planes fast, holds an edge for boosting, surfs well for a tt and if you know how to ride it rails upwind and is the smoothest board imaginable

stop hesitating, in this sport hesitation kills, and try one

Very interesting thread. I gotta say I always hear great things about this board, but the fact ive never seen one and it's unconventional shape has prevented me from seriously considering it. 

What I can say is that I got a nobile 50 last year, it's longer than most TTs, with a lot of rocker (or maybe I should say interesting rocker shape). But what really surprised me was the how much fun it was in small waves, loose and easy to keep the front of the board from digging in, I attribute this to its length and rocker. 

However, one real issue I have is the chatter at high speed. The 50 can hold a lot and in a lot of chop too, and in the end it was aggravating my bad knee too much and sold it. 

Having said that, I keep hearing how smooth the mako is. Can anyone comment how much chatter or vibration is felt from rocketing through chop and waves at a higher speeds? I'd love to get back on a board which works well in waves again. 

Btw, my solution to my bad knee for the time being is to keep the speed down, but  I'm always looking for the silver bullet to help my knee.

Previously you said "the one I have is 143 x 40 but it rides smaller."
