Just returned from amazing days in Kalpitiya/Sri Lanka. People say best season is in summer but I found January also to be good - every day 14 knots!

Another local, posting as a vacationer, promoting his business.

Dilshri, it's not cool to do this. Cut it out already,

Hi Eddy,

What kite size have you been on? 12m?

And how is wind direction in the winter? does it come side off from the Puttalam side?
What is the influence of thermal winds? does it slow the Trade wind like in the summer, or rather re-inforce?

Thanks for the info :)

If it would have Dilshri there would only be Core kites in the picture, right?

Original Poster "Eddie," with only one post, removed the link to the kite school (which I believe was Dilshris) after I protested.

Sri Lanka is fantastic, but attached to every Sri Lanka thread is a bs self promotion comment like this. It's dishonest. if you want to promote yourself pay Toby for advertising or earn real word of mouth.

If possible, can we make abstraction of this self-promotion discussion, please?

Eddy has removed the link, so let's move on.

I'd be very happy to get some answers to my questions I've raised above (guess they're relevant irrespective where someone wants to get lodging ;) )

Thanks :thumb:

Ive not been in the winter: although I've spent tons of time in the summer.

I've been told the wind is weaker than summer, less consistent (so big kite weather), and comes from the north rather than the south. It also cycles in three four day patterns or something like that.

Contact mike at kitekuda (google kitekuda) on Skype or email. He's really helpful and replies pretty much instantly to questions like these.

I always stay at his digs but you can certainly stay anywhere else too. He will help you out with info regardless.

Hello, I'm leo from kitesurfinglanka.
There is good wind during the off season, january, february and march.
We use mostly 12 m during this season. The wind direction is north east the morning and north west the afternoon, a thermal wind kick in the afternoon, thermal wind make stronger the trade wind. We have an average of 4-5 windy day a week.

ChickenTikka it's wasn't Dilsiri in the last post.
But I'm from kitesurfinglanka, I have a kiteschool and kite camp there, you can find plenty of information about kitesurfing in sri lanka on our website www.kitesurfinglanka.com

The main season for kitesurfing is from may until end of september, we get wind everyday, we had 5 day of no wind last season. The average wind speed is 20 knots.

Please feel free to contact me on my E-mail adress : info@kitesurfinglanka.com leomoret83@gmail.com if you want more information.
Sri Lanka is a marvelous country and we get one of the best kite spot in the word.
Some video to show you where we kite :

^ See folks, that's how you promote your business. Use Moret's example.

1) You openly and transparently disclose who you are and what you are promoting.

2) You provide good, detailed, useful info, and sick videos of the spot.

3) As a result of points 1) and 2) People find you competent and trustworthy.

4) Because they find you competent and trustworthy they book you, even at a premium. Why? Because they do not want to deal with the kind of people who will pull devious stuff like inventing fake accounts and fake praise for their kite school.

There is simply no reason to create a fake account with bullshit praise for yourself.
