Great you have bough a GoPro and has recorded the entire last season.

Aren't they boring ? How come ?
Do you edit them to make them less boring ?
Does anyone besides you watch them ?
Does your wife watch them ?
Does your mother watch them ?
Or do you oblige your kids to watch them ?

Have you uploaded some on Youtube ? Then how many views did you get ?

How many giga bytes of video have you collected ?
Will you ever watch these videos again (before retirement home)?

haha...nice...well maybe not framed the nicest way, but I definitely see your point and kinda agree.

But if it makes them happy why the hell not....not bothering anyone with it either so buy another camera and edit the shit out of that.

i upload them to youtube/vimeo to share with friends/family but i've gotten a few thousand views between them, so apparently other people watch too.

i mostly make them for myself, it's a good way to see your progress

The best thing about having a GoPro is taking it home after a session and checking out all the footage. Youd be surprised how much of a session you actually forget until you watch some of the clips. You get to relive a session or that one turn, that one wave/trick and have it forever. What you do with it is up to you.

The other major advantage of watching/editing the footy is analyzing your style and technique. Any video of yourself surfing/skating/kiting lets you analyze your body posture, mechanics and slow it down enough to notice subtle mistakes.

I dont get the GoPro hate? If you dont like it dont use it, dont watch the videos and dont complain about it. If you think im a kook for using it f*** off no one cares what you think anyways and you better be much better than me if you want to talk any shit at all. You're a grumpy old man, or some stuck up douche who needs to mind their own business... end rant

Do what makes you happy and f*** everyone else.

I've wondered the same thing. I've gopro'ed 3 sessions now, pressing record and letting it go until the battery runs out. So I have 2 or more hours of footage that takes up a whole lot of space. I edited a little video, 2 minutes, to show off to my family and friends this new hobby I'm spending all this time on. But what to do with the rest of this footage? And what about when I've gopro'ed another 5 or 10 or 20 sessions? That'll really add up. Time for a 2TB hard drive I guess.

But I came across one of these file the other day, and pressed play. It was fun to see summer's blue sky, green water, and nice steady thermal wind. I ended up watching the whole thing, reliving the session. Or at least most of it, skipping ahead at some points. My wife watched maybe a minute, accused me of extreme nerdiness, and that was it for her ... this is more of a personal thing I believe.

I suspect 30 years from now, when I'm getting too old for this (fingers crossed), this footage will be even more fun to watch.

You need to get the remote control. Then you will find that you only turn the camera on when you are entering an interesting point of your session. Or you switch between video and stills (the stills are much crisper, colorful, and easier to edit).

Do that, and you'll end up with a LOT less wasted footage. It also becomes a much less intimidating pile of crap so you are more likely to take the time to edit it into a flick.

Some of my movies get a lot of views, some of them get very few. I do it for myself, family and friends. To remember a session. And because it is fun to produce little movies. If a movie starts being more work than fun, I put it aside. I only edit the footage that motivates me to get something out there. It also helps to practice on all these little sessions or life events so that when you have recorded something that you are really proud of, you have the editing skills to piece it together! For example, I have made a dozen mediocre flicks of my own boarding sessions, but then when I want to make a movie of my kids doing something, I get the real pay-off. :thumb:
