Hand Injury, Need Lightest Bar Pressure

Postby hayes » Sat Jul 12, 2014 8:54 am

I've injured my hand on a bench mounted circular saw, severing the ulnar nerve and also the muscle that helps cobrol grip on the little finger and ring finger. and fine motor control

As such, gripping a bar, pulling to power up and turn and pulling with bent elbows is going to hugely painful. Surgery has reconstructed the muscles and nerve but still very painful, will be having physio to try and get strength and sensation back as totally numb.

I will be buying some new kites once I'm able to test some, and need some advice.

I've had a search about for low bar pressure and seem to find conflicting reviews.

So can someone who has actually flown a certain kite recommend the lightest bar pressure?
I have a flysurfer speed 3 for lower wind which super light on the bar, but need inflatables for the higher wind

Thanks :)

Naish Park and North Rebel are two popular kites with light bar pressure.

Or you can make any kite lighter on the bar by conecting the lower front conectionpoint further back 10 cm is a lot.
Also moving the back lines further helps, but it increases the bar throw.

I love the Rebel, but I don't think it is exceptionally light on the bar.

I think the Ozone Edge bar pressure is lighter, but pressure goes up when it gets really powered.
