Strange how perception may differ from reality.

Very true and is what I meant regarding the dominating part. Best is one of the few that actually participate in the forum with direct representatives from the company.
And the domination was not self imposed by some spam attack of ungodly amounts of posts and silly back and forth childish my dad can beat your dad posts. But rather a few announcements that completely rocked the kite world And changed perception just like that...
Genius!

But looks like Best has to sell 2000 kites just to pay the team riders.
I hope it will work out for them. Always good when people push something!
well yeah!
230000 divided by 2000 is 115.
this is the proof that kite real cost is around 115 bucks. even if the numbers are two or three times wrong it is still impressively small number.
all the rest is for the "passion" and the middlemen
I think you have redo that logic....quite a bit

I believe he is seeing out this last event on SS kites, but will be riding the Profanity straight away.

I think having team riders has a more subliminal impact. For example, I hate the riding style of Tronet, but I am an all Ocean Rodeo gear guy. My fave riders are Dre and Ruben, but I cant stand cabrinha products (and though i used to like fuels I like O.R. more). I am only 24 btw, just in case you wanted to think the team riders is a "attract young people thing".
The way sponsorship works isnt "wow that guy rides that kite so i should buy it" it just increases the visibility of the brand so that you increase your familiarity with it. There are a million different ways to do this. In our sport there are no TV commercials so it makes sense to use celebrated riders for some brands, specifically if their is a big shift in the company.
Seems funny no one here is talking about Shannon Best. Cabrinha still has Pete (in addition to Dre) Naish still has Robby (in addition to Kevin and the Richman bros) and that gives continuity, which creates a degree of trust.
Best switches gears often, andI think Best is buying up riders because they need something to be "best" about their brand since Shannon is gone. Its a big deal when the guy the company is named after is no longer involved. Imagine if Air Jordans suddenly where not involved with MJ.

I don't get the hype over Lenten. Seems to me he had his time and outside of his megaloops, which have gotten old, he was relegated to being Hadlows board boy for the past couple years. He just hasn't done anything to stay relevant. Dont get me wrong, years ago I was a fan but he got stale. Maybe the king of the air will prove me wrong....maybe
