OMG the doubters in this thread need to get a life!

Its a jump. a big one. not the biggest, not the longest. To talk smack about what the wind is or isnt like from a video clip is complete crap. Gusts happen... they happen a lot in maui! Jump real high, luck into a decent gust and there you go.

sure Robby is in control! But he has the best job ever...once a week he shows up in a meeting, and then has the rest of the week for the water. Nothing beats that!

And for some guys here: if you cannot do a jump like that...others can!

Diez you are on to something there....a real 8.8 seconds or let's say real 9 seconds is awesome

All you guys should watch carefully at the jumps from the best of the best at Red Bull King of Air

They are in 30 knots on 9 and 10m2...boosting off waves..doing kiteloops and helicopter loops.....
....yet if you time their jumps...none of them get to 14 seconds...most are 8..9..10 seconds

Those experts are high in the air 15m to 20m++ ....and floating long distances off the wind....
...and yet no one gets a 14 seconds jumps...or a 13...or a 12

dunno what you lot have been smoking - but there's loads of evidence of people staying up that long - Adam Koch's famous 13sec jump, Jesse Richmans 22 sec with hundreds of people watching, Eric Eck disappearing over the horizon...

As for king of the air - pretty sure they were all using C kites - those rip you off the water and great for loops but not exactly ideal for gliding / floating...

besides - Damien's a top bloke - really can't believe he'd stoop to making this shit up...

The RB king OTA was windy, but those guys were going for height..... C kites, and power looping does nothing for hang time. Lame dangling with maybe really well timed helicopter loops timed with big gusts will help, but that is not what I saw in those clips from cape town.

Understand why some think it suss.. from 3secs because of way it looks, find it hard to believe someone would slow it 14% or whatever tho no way rider would put up with that, or risk the very marketing point.

Leash not flapping around (looks slomo) because when you jump big you go downwind far so there is relatively little wind on it so just swinging with gravity/pendulum and Jesse (is it him?) good at keeping still /not doing the old dangle swing...

Keen to have a go on this kite and go dangling.

Diez13's version of the jump looks 'normal' for a jump.

The Naish jump does not look normal, but there have been gusts before - like Adam Koch's 13 second jump - so a gust of exactly the right type could happen to give 14 seconds.
Anyone who has been out in the wind long enough knows that it does a lot of weird and unexpected things.

That jump in the Rebel promo vid on Page 1 looks normal and its pretty high but only lasts 8 seconds.
