...Got prices on the Velocity

9m $1189
11m $1329
13m $1479
14m $1519
16m $1659
18m $1809

The bar is not an IDS bar and only works on the Velocity kites

55cm or 65cm is $549

It is made for racing specifically as Cab really wanted a competitor to the Edge in races. Bernie Lake on Cabrinha vs. J.H. and the Kochs. It will work for light wind, but being high aspect makes it more of an apparent wind kite than a low end grunt kite. A novice rider would find it a bit finiky to fly in light wind.

55cm bar comes with 24m thin lines: 9m,11,13,14

65cm bar comes with 27m thin lines and 3m extensions

you can purchase Kite Only and chose a bar size of your liking

Damo, who was also involved in the testing, indicated it was also a great freeride kite and for the hooked in riders great air and hangtime :)

Uhhh...the Ozone Edge isn't anywhere remotely close to being a delta kite. Not even in the same ball park as a delta kite.

This kite is very different to the Ozone Edge! The Ozone Edge is a Delta kite that looked at a bow kite. The Velocity is just a variation of the Xbow.

Just curious. Could you use an IDS bar with the kite or is the race bar significantly different? Besides the 24/27m lines and the cleat de-power what is the difference?

Short answer is no.

Longer answer, the safety system on the kite is different, so as you could probably use any bar with equal line length, the ids safety system wouldn't work, so if you punched out of the kite, not sure what it would do. The velocity bar is a single line flagging safety system.

Has anyone tried an IDS bar on a kite that normally uses a single line flagging system?

I used all sorts of bar on all sorts of kites. A 2009 IDS on many of my big kites as it is 60cm. Before that I used an Airush 65cm Smart Bar on them. I think of the push away release as a time buying device, not really a full safety anyway. It just gives me a couple extra seconds to decide if I need to ditch the kite completely, the waves will eat it, if it is going to get stuck in that tree over there, etc. I really don't kite on crowded beaches. Even with an IDS kite, I've found the kite to fly up in the air upside down anyway.

Captainhardrock:

Last two years look good to me. The chalking was not in the fabric....Cabrinha rolls the design right onto raw material. Then adds the protective coating. Chalking was in the coating. Rolling the design onto the the raw fabric also strengthens the fabric. Basically the only thing that is screen printed is the Cabrinha logo

I was at my local shop this week and I am seriously considering picking this up over a xbow for light wind (not a racer).

Has anyone ridden one and can give feedback. I read a few statements of guys riding them saying they are faster turning and lighter bar pressure than the xbow. Id like some feedback on their light wind, non racing capabilities. Thanks.
