For me Kevin Langeree was the crowds favorite with huge air of close to if not 30m with definitely 250m to 300 drift down wind. It was insane and awesome to watch these guys in action. Although Richman won it I believe Kevins large build and physicality allowed him to Boost bigger and Higher than the rest.

Sweet. I can't wait for the videos...I bet it was a spectacle to see live...

i reckon it is all about the "whip" - the ability to load up stupid tension in the rail at max speed but have the kite sent back super fast, good lift foil profile helps as it will cause even more up tension as it speeds up ready to launch.

Agreed, had a session with KL in Noumea, he uses some brute force in his arms, like a kangaroo on speed trying to break orbit.

so why didn't kevin win? had a bad round and bombed out?

jumping off kickers ...most kites will go high so the c kites get up there with some help from hitting the waves ..then they come into their own looping downwind..

i wanna know the best jumping kite off flat water ?

and yes i know its down to technique and board control but ive got that...which kite to boost to the moon if powered up in flat water with some serious edging,loading and sending and releasing ?

I cant say im any good surfer, but iv tried alot of diffrent kites so far- most used on clear flatwater with loads of wind.

The one that boosted me the most was without comparison the Airush Vapor X 2011. It also had SO much hangtime. I sure miss that kite..

The North Rebel also seemed to take me into the sky - but again, this all depends on the day the rider and the effort made for it..

Naish Park was really awesome aswell. just didnt feel the same hangtime as the two kites above.

But do i know? Im just a rider loving to test of all diffrent kites and settings.

Do you have preference in type of vertical pull and what about hangtime?

I was there for most of the comp. The naish torch and north vegas were the two jumping the highest. Most of the riders were using 9m kites and kevin and jesse were on 10m torches which I think gave them the extra height in the 30kn of wind. I can barely handle my 7m torch in those wind speeds. Those guys definitely have the balls to be king of the air.

i'm very much a 5 line C kite fan so love the vertical blast off the water....

vegas/hi fi comps/rhinos/fuels all been in my set up.
thinking back probably my highest ever jumps (you know the ones where you actually get scared) were on the 07 7 and 9m fuels i had. but this could be down to conditions, flukey gusts etc.

i would have a guess that the kite that gave me the most height consistantly over a range of sessions was the 9m hi fi comp (2010)....and of recently the 2012 10m vegas not far behind..

using kickers i imagine a fast powered up kite sent at the exact moment of release from the lip of the wave will send you really high...or does that little ramp lift you get actually take some tension from the lines ?
jumped using waves and its always a little hit and miss unless the wind is super consistant
