C'mon Stefan, he said that he is looking for
big waves... Sri Lanka has a couple of nice flat-water lagoons so if that was what he was looking for Sri Lanka would be right on target.
But the waves are short-distance, wind-driven, short-period waves in a generally messy ocean.
On a good day you might get 1m to 1.5m waves on which you might be able to do a couple of bottom turns, but I think he is looking for more than that.
Also, about 100% consistent wind... You know that there ain't no such thing.
In Sri Lanka in July and August in the last couple of years, there have been entire weeks of no wind even in Kalpitiya on the west coast which is one of the windiest places in Sri Lanka. And if he wants any decent chance of good waves he would have to head south in Sri Lanka, and there the wind is much less consistent.
Kiterunner, can you delay your trip by a month, to August or later? In that case I would head to Sumbawa in Indonesia for big, clean, well-organized waves with long periods.
