Sliding Dynabar for a student?

Would there be any reason that a student should not use the sliding dynabar?

Thought process is conserving energy on those walks of shame back upwind and also helping in body drag board retrieval. I have never used one myself so any instructor/ manufacturer input is appreciated.

Thanks

No reason at all, unless they become unavailable and leave the student with no choice to go with a fixed hook... And then they may hate kiting forever....

The sliding bar makes walking upwind and body dragging much easier and less effort.

We designed a product to be usable in all different learning steps and styles.
Shortly (you can find lots of posts on the dynabar matter):

1. Water start
Sliding hook can be easily controlled by twisting body in the direction you are going.
Body drag easier, no worry to loose board. Easy walk on the beach and less loss of energy.
2. Going upwind
Helps to keep optimal weight distribution and gain upwind ability.
3. Learning freeride tricks
More body freedom and easy transaction to toe side and viceversa. Allows both direction sliding, other brands don't.
4. Using directional board and wave riding

5. Snowkite

6. Racing
More body freedom during jibe and tack. Better legs load distribution
7. Foil board
No need to jibe
8. Freestyle
Add fixed hook and go, or learn how to hook back with two hands, one keeps bar and the other hooks back.

Oddly I find a body dragging harder with the dynabar As my body tends to twist not stay straight making it harder for me to maintain the knife position to drag up wind. I have to concentrate to keep the Hook centered. Apart from that I love.

Hey jaystore

I need a new part for my Dynabar ( the bolt with the plastic roller on it and some rollers) but you dont have the plastic rollers listed on your site and the bolt is 5 euro but with shipping 30 euro! Can you help me out please?
Loving the Dynabar since I started using it 2 years ago, you will get used to the body dragging and perfect for learning especially all things toeside!

Once anyone uses the Dynabar, you will not return to a regular fixed hook again.
Everything is so much easier.

Mike, if I understand for you going upwind in body drag it helps to offer more resistance to water by keeping body in "knife position",
Making easy body drag was one of the first benefit kiters noticed when they started using DYNABAR (click here), too much resistance will have the opposite result, keep body more flat and use you arm as a fin. DYNABAR helps in keeping body more flat on water.
