Strapless jumping board for big guy?

Postby JollyGreen » Sat Feb 23, 2013 7:20 am

Anyone have any experience or recommend a good solid strapless board that will survive jumps from a big guy? 225lb 6'6"

I rented an older cabrinha trigger on maui and it seemed sturdy so was thinking about a 2012 or 2013 cabrinha board, maybe the subwoofer? I'll probably be mostly in chop to head high slow mostly mushy waves. I have most of my surface moves down on strapless board, looking to move into some jumps using the kite and air transitions.

give the North xsurf 6'0 a try. i use the 5'10 and love it for jumping and onshore mush. im 6'2 85kg.
the 6'0 is 191/2 x 23/8 and id say about 30L volume.

If you've found the board you like just get it.
Expect that you will eventually break any board.

I ride the 5'9'' skater. what makes that board hold very well is in addition to the regular bamboo and epoxy layup is a thin layer of pvc.

... I'm 265lb :o and have heaps of fun on the Airush Cypher 5'10. It suprizingly handles choppy 20 knots water too.

Biggest complaint though, it needs deckpads as wax doesn't last long. With the 5 fin boxes, you got options, I can change the feel of the board with either tri or quad, and with each option, you can move the fins fore/aft making it even more options in feel.

I haven't tried the other boards so I don't know how good they are but this one is a lovely board for us heavier dudes.

Cheers,

Robbie :D
