Struggling with boardoffs er "board on" tips?

Every day for 3 months I'm practicing boardoffs and while I can land one footers say 70% of the time as soon as I take both feet out I cannot find body position or balance to get the board back on. It seems in the videos that the jump is taken just before 12 oclock so you have some forward momentum and the body is turned away from the kite slightly after the board is off sort of like if you were to do a partial back roll making it easy to turn toward the kite for board "on" , balance, and landing. Am I on the right path? Did I observe correctly? I've been sending the kite to 12 to attempt the trick and I've noticed that its nearly impossible to land or get balance if the kite moves slightly past 12 and I have nearly no speed landing if the jump is at 12. At first I've practiced one footers with grabbing the handle but I've got no reach to get my front foot in with this method so I'm now practicing with the tail grab one footers with some success. My issue is balance. Any tips or videos would be greatly appreciated.
Would anyone recommend one footers with front foot out for practice?
Ideally I would like to use the handle for board offs but if progression is easier with the tail then so be it.

I have been trying to do board offs too. My problem is i am the least flexible person in the world. Even with no harness on, parcticing in a chair, I can only reach the tail of the board on the heel side. I can do one footers grabbing here, but board off seems awkward

The how-to videos show grabbing the middle of the heel side. It seems like it would be easier to balence the board and get it back on your feet from there.

Do you mean toeside? (Indy)
If not, please show me a video!

A handle is the easiest way. Get a bit higher handle. You can also hold on the fin, then take both feed out, then first back in with the further away footm hen second foot back in just like a one footer.

Soon my DVD www.airstyle.tv is ready, there boardoffs and how to train are explained.
And tons of trick inspirations.

one foot is quick so you can jump one foot and then redirect the kite for a landing. board off is slower so you jump, board off, and then while you are putting the board back on redirect the kite for landing. cant just hold the kite at 12 all day.

Toby, You had said you made yourself a larger handle for your board? What did you make it out of?

Aluminium. Than tennis racket grip tape. First the thick, then the thin one.

Another way to make a handle is buy some pvc tubing, heat it with a hair dryer until it's flexible and then mold it into the shape of a handle. quick and easy.

Cool idea. What size tubing did you use?

whatever is comfortable for your grip. I like a larger diameter
