Epic screamer questions

Postby ShredThaGnar » Mon Mar 11, 2013 12:45 am

I am interested in the Screamer 12m and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with doing unhooked wakestyle tricks with this kite. I know there are better kites out there for unhooking, but i really would like to have the boosting ability of the screamer especially when im not wanting to ride wakestyle. I currently have an infinity v1, renegade 9m, and a Naish 12m Park which i am trying to sell. I demoed the screamer 14, but i didnt do any unhooked stuff at the time. I can do unhooked raleys, bankrolls, sbends, and raley to blinds. Any advice would be great. Please no epic haters in this forum, not trying to start another infinity bs claims post. I personally love my infinity but thats for another topic.

Hey STG,

I have never used or even seen the screamer but if you are looking for a wakestyle Epic kite than I would beleive that the Judge kite is for you. The Park would be a better wakestyle kite than the screamer and I am curious as to why you are selling the Park. If you are looking to just ride Epic kites than the Judge is it for you. The screamer is a high aspect ratio kite that excels at boosting. It can probably do some wakestyle related moves well but I can't see it being what you would want. The renegade (according to Dimitri) would be a better choice choice over the screamer for it's wake abilities but it would still be inferior to the Judge. Hope this helps and I could be wrong about the screamer but all that I have read from Dimitri (and others) is that it is was developed for big boosts.

The Judge would by far be the better wakestyle, as Dimitri would attest. The boost and upwind is sick on the Screamer, but it does not much care for slack in the lines, like would result when you came down going directly downwind after a handlepass. If you aren't going to be doing tricks that require a lot of jerking the bar in and out, like handlepasses, it will do just fine. The 3G has plenty of pop, and will definitely satisfy the big air bug.

The Judges get used by Rocky Chatwell to do some serious freestyle.
The Judge was obviously designed to be a real true four line C kite, so it will behave like one.
I really liked the Judge 8M that I demoed for a couple weeks, it is quick and powerful and has great bottom end.
But Rocky (and Dimitri and lots of others) also uses Screamers for freestyle.
I'm not a freestyle kiter, just an old lamo freerider hobbling along out there, so my experience do not mean much.

Jeff on screamer

Its very well possible to do wakestyle with a screamer but i think the Judge will be better for it.

If you want to loop and unhook, get the 9m Screamer instead of the 10m. The 9m is much quicker and more responsive. But the 10m boosts more (and will rip your arms out if unhooked). :D
