North Vegas 2013 12 or 14 ?

Hello there,

I'm quite new here and this forum seems pretty nice!

I've been kiting for a while but did not really follow the last years advancement in kiteboarding.

I've got two 13 and 9m fone bandit 2007 that were pretty good but now i'd like to do some more unhook stuff and those kites show their limits.

I've tried the north vegas in 9m and it was wonderful, so I decided to renew my equipment.

I was wondering what would be the best sizes, as I'm located in Shanghai and often the wind is quite low, I was considering a 14m-9m or 12m-8m combination. I am a little bit worry that a big kite as 14 won't perform as good as 12 but i might be wrong, so feed-back are welcome! My budget is not enough for three kite.

I'm about 75kg and I got a 130x40 board, I'm also looking to get a new board around 137.
BTW I've been out for a while but when i started, 130cm board was already considered "big" and I see now most the board have around 133-136, so did the size increase in the past few years?

Also I've seen that many people really liked the 22m line on the vegas but it's not available on my store, only 24m. What's the best as your opinion ? (22m more reactive and 24 more power).

Thank you guys.

what are the usual windspeeds over there on low wind days?
if they not much under 15 knots i would def. go for the 12m.

I suggest to go with the 9 & 14 option, but what are the average conditions you are looking to go out in?

You mentioned you are thinking about switching boards. Yes a bigger board will increase your low wind riding range, but it might not be strong enough to get going (comfortably); maybe keep your smaller TT and either get a lightwind TT (i.e. spleene Door) or go for a surfboard or raceboard. Those will get you planing in lower winds than any TT so you can maximize your time on the water.

Just my 2 cents.

Good tips thanks. So seems that the 12 is probably better.

Although what I like is jump, I might get quickly bored with a door at the feet.

A 137 board and 12m could get me as low as 14-15 knots?

yes a 12m and a 137 board will be fine in 14-15knots for unhooked riding with ur weight.also it make quite a difference what the temperature is,if u ride in 10 degrees or +30 .cold air is much thicker and gives u more power than hot air.
