Edge 17/19 vs Dyno 2011 18 ? Anyone can compare?

Since I only have two Dyno 2011 18 left, I fear to run out of a good Airstyle kite one day...

So need to think about alternatives.

Can anyone compare the Edge 19 or 17 to the Dyno 2011 18 ?

How does your 18 Dyno compare with the classic Rhino2/6 20m for low end.. :thumb:

Forget about the obvious differences in turning speeds/re-launch and upwind, just want to know what the basic wind speeds are to get going ... :thumb:

Since you've been through a few of the Dyno's already, could you say what part of the kite is wearing out first? I would assume the LE.

Keep talking North into an air style kite!

been a while on the R2 20...but it feels similar in low end.
Maybe give the R2 1 knots more in low end, and the Dyno 18 3 knots more top end.

The material of the Dyno is very thin, since it is made for lightwind. Therefore it stays up in the air when the wind is very light...very stable.

But since the kite flutters during turns and loops on the trailing edge, it wears exactly there.
Just above the green end. It thins out. Then I add a stripe of material there to make it work again.

I suggest North to add more material there to make it longer lasting.

Fronttube is ok, but I pump it hard, so seems can open, or break. I also suggest North to reinforce the material there.

I hope they listen to me...but the problem is the demand. But I think the potential is higher than those race kites...once people see my DVD and can see what I can do with this kite, they might rethink their gear, because with a kite like this many more tricks are possible. For heavier riders and lighter winds.
Slow, stable, lift, hangtime, and turning when you need it. Just had another great session in maybe 9-14 knots.

But I keep hearing good things about the Edge...so if anyone tested both, would be really interesting to hear. Since I am not sponsored I can ride what suits me the best. Very happy about that!

Latest at the world cup in Germany I will try more different kites to see what is out there. It is the biggest demo event worldwide, perfect place to demo it all !

Toby there is a guy called T-one lives in darwin australia (can find him on the aussie seabreeze forum, he's posted on here as well. When I met him in Bali-Sanur he was on the Dyno's (well i used his anyhow) as he was trialling the edge. Now he is no airstylist like yourself but he does jump and may give you some indication on turning speed, air time and feel in general. He also flies with a guy called Puertz who has been actively trying to find out about fuses and still rides the Dyno's. Might be worth asking anyhow. Either way you'll need to use a north bar probably due to the micro loop needed...?

Have fun in Germany and your video soon would be great, our doldrum couple of months is nearly upon us!

RDM: would be fantastic! I expect to have those kites at the demo event in Germany in July.

plummet: one season in Brazil (6 months), about 60 sessions?

I assume they would send me kites for testing, but currently I am travelling, hard to receive kites here.
Trying to avoid to kite in Germany whenever I can!

Westozzy: I know Puertz, he posts in the specific topics. I also send him a mail, waiting for his reply.
The North bars until 2012 are the best bars due to the microloop. You want to be a true airstyler, then you need the ML. Several tricks are only possible with it (e.g. no handed barefoot slide)

Also one handed board offs give me Tendonitis of the wrist holding the bar after a while.

Yeh micro loop for sure.

Puertz is a good mate of T-one (tony) great bloke and now an edge rider. They call Darwin the shit wind capital of Australia, lol. Great guys, can't wait to catch up again in Bali this year.
