Poorman's home made rotating strap

Postby Hawaiis » Sun Mar 31, 2013 10:17 am

I used a drain cover and two toilet ring spacers to make this simple rotating strap.

Did you have to put new inserts into the board to be able to fit it?

How would rotating straps work on a raceboard? I am thinking how it might be better at releasing the foot when you tack.

I doubt it would work. They tend to suit a flat deck because the disc has to be flat to rotate. Most raceboards seem to be using ergonomic upper rails/foot domes now.

This goes on a Rush Randle foil board, it had snowboard boots on.
I want to try strapless later. I put the deck pad on first.
Used the original 4cm spaced Quad holes(snowboard design).
The drain cover has hole that are exactly 4cm apart.
The toilet rings have the holes in placed too.
I put screw inserts into the toilet rings to hold the strap bolts.
The deck is very flat. I Don't think it will work on race boards with rounded rails.

That sounds like a pretty good match.

There is a rotating mounting for Snowboards, but it doesn't look like it would cope with sand - and its expensive compared to your system.

Yeah you would obviously have to design the board for it.
You'd also be able to move more on the board.
I'm mostly thinking for the front straps.

What was the main reason you did this? Was it to jibe better or just maneuverability on the deck.

The main reason is to go toe side on the Foil board.
