Hi Guys,
I'm having real probs getting my airpasses consistent...
Some days I'll land 3 in a row, others none at all... It does my head in
Here's an example from today (embedding probably won't work, it never does for me
)
[vimeo]

here's the link, if the embed doesn't work:

AFAIK, everything looks good except for the catching hand on the bar bit
Any tips? I'm sure in this particular example i'd have caught it if i rotated my arm more maybe, but there will be other examples where my arm goes under the bar too, i expect...
Cheers!

That's looking pretty good
(except for the straps)
2 tips.
First is to keep your arms a bit more bent before you initiate the pass. This will help you advance on the bar with more power as instead of reaching from fully extended arms (maybe 75% power available), you will be starting from an arm position where your large muscle groups have maximum leverage (100% power available). Also, as you have advanced your body to the bar you will find the bar closer for the catch!
Second is to look in the direction your going a bit more after you initiate the spin. It looks like you were spotting your landing, which is good, but try to keep turning your head so you're looking in the direction your travelling, even beyond that point. it will help your body position and confidence in hanging onto a sketchy part of the bar, as well as cause you to spin a bit faster.
You also did a pretty cool little extra tweak as you came up into the raley which maybe made it a bit harder to get your body spinning fast back underneath you. But I'd say keep that because its going to look sick when you're making the pass and stomping it.
Bonus points for freestyle in a fucking drysuit! rock on brother.

Try bringing the bar more down towards your hip and tighter to your body as you go for the rotation. Also keep your feet and board downwind and your head upwind. The tips above will probably be best to follow. These little tid bits help me on the days I actually stomp this one.

Thanks for all the info guys. Off to the beach now to go try some more
I'm surprised there are no tips on making sure the catching hand lands on the bar... I guess its just the case that if everything else is correct, that bit comes easy?
