Not sure, but the one I saw looked like a 5'4" board. Quite a bit wider and thicker than my 5'0" x 17" x 2" Vanguard (obviously). I'd estimate that the volume is somewhere in the 26-29 L range. But, the LF Messenger seemed to be slightly smaller (in all dimensions/volume) than the SS T-Rex.

Hope that this helps.

Before you get too set in your thinking you should know that the designer for this board with Liquid Force works/worked on and off with Tomo, I believe.

I hate when the copies come out before the original

What is taking firewire so long to make a kite version? Is this shape more difficult to glass or something?

Best has a board like this too?

The last rumours around says that the Vanguard "kite version" will be in FST (no inserts) and there is a 5'0 in addition to the line-up :cool2:
It is also said that availbility is for end of year

seems like a lot of kiters have waited for this kind of format. funny how they pop out everywhere now. curious to see if that will last or if they will dissapear again.

for now i have tons of fun with my slingshot-version, the t-rex :D

Hi,
at the moment I try to build my own vanguard firewire :o
Is it possible for one of the happy owners of an original vanguard firewire to measure the radius of the rail at some distances from the tail (e.g. 5-10 positions would be great :baby: ) ?

Vanguards are on the boat as we type. End of jan early Feb.
Perfection takes time. Perfecting them in FST is what took time.
Getting the magic right and cosmetics was very important.
The real deal will be hitting store's very soon.
Thanks to the guys that have held off and not been sucked in to knock offs.
Regards
Felix

Felix,

How would you describe the durability of FST compared to other kite specific surfboard construction such as North and Slingshot? Should the FST construction hold up as well?

Another question, I am 5'10" 180 lb and typically ride a 5'10" North Wam at 23.5 L. What size Vanguard would you recommend? For volume I fall just below the 5'2" but 5'4" takes the big jump to 25L.

Hi KiteTooMuch-
The FST kite construction will not only match any brand out there but also retain the great feel and flex that firewire boards are known for.

5'4 will work perfectly for you. This was the first size I tried. I can ride it in on the light wind days but for me to sink a rail when its windy is a little tough.
I weigh 155.
It will be an all round weapon for you with out a doubt.
Hope this helps.

Cheers
Felix
