Did I miss some more drama? That what happens for spending to much time riding!!!
Back from the snow for some great wave action in
Mexico. End of the season is surprisingly good with some
strong SE swell and great NE wind!
Am still in love with my
SURF 5/8/12m quiver.
I really like the drift of the kite and the way it loops even going DW. As it has been said before(and it also applies for riding in Light wind ) this is not a given, it needs skills to ride waves, but when you get it right and understand how to play with the SURF kite, then you realize
how good this kite is!!!
This kite is
made to ride waves, if you want to go big, go for the Screamer.
If you want to do it all, go for the Renegade.
Relaunch is easy and fast and allows you to get out of wipe out situation in a blink.
So far the construction seems very strong. I did crash it a few times in heavy shore breaks and 25+, and it didn t twist or invert of break.
I feel that this is a powerful kite and would compare the
SURF 5m to the Renegade 6.5, the
SURF 8m to the Renegade 9m and the
SURF 12m to the Renegade 13m, which were my wave kites from last season.
I ride only strapless( getting old and my shoulders don t enjoy handle pass anymore : ( ), so I really like the details of the bag with a side pockets for wax and fins, cleaver!! Specially cause I am riding on some very shallow spots and loose a lot of fins!
The only thing for me, and it was obviously not a problem in the snow, is the new big inflate/deflate valve. I try to use it as less as possible as this is very difficult to keep it clean( off sand) as we have very thin powdery sand here. Not a big deal if you are cautious.
My advice, give it a try before making your choice!!
Voila,
Going back riding now for an other Epic session!!
