Hi,

Can anyone tell me which North kite is the best jumping machine (longest hang-time and as high as possible).
I wont go with the Rebel since I'm not into 5 liners. The only other requirement would be light bar pressure.
Fuse or Vegas or Evo or Dyno or...? And which year please.

I'm fed up with bringing kites to repair because of crap quality.
Thank you.

Cheers

When 14Toeside came to my beach i tried his Dyno 17m2 LTD on 25m lines
Combined with the Nugget 2013
I am only 75kg and in about 12-14 knots i never boosted so fast...so high...and so long a distance

That kite produces impressive jumps

Check out their website because the Dyno 2013 has been released (5 line not loaded / no pulleys)
Sizes 7-9-11-13-15-17m2

Hi mate,

Thank you for your reply.
I'm only interested in a 4 liner (and something with not so much bar pressure).
I'm 68Kg and don't kite when the wind is less than 18knots. I normally have 1 kite only - a 10m.

Cheers

I should have mentioned that the "LTD" Dyno is convertible to 4 line bar...
.... because it has the pulleys in the bridle to do so... just like the design of the 2011

The 2013 Dyno will not have that 4 line bar option

Oh, ok. Which year is the 4 liner?
Is it the good fabric and good overall quality?
No de-laminating valves? No broken struts every 4 weeks? Lines are ok? Bridles?
No issues with that kite?

Cheers

I would say Vegas is the highest jumper and Rebel is the best hangtime but these are both 5-line, so out.

Go for the Evo. Basically the Rebel on 4-lines.

The Evo is a great all around kite but is not designed for hang time..

The Fuse is the kite which North designed as a Rebel with 4 lines. Both the Fuse and the Rebel have very good hang time and lift. Only the Dyno has silightly better hangtime. I am reading the North 2013 catalog as I write this.

Overall the Fuse is probably the better all around kite than the Dyno for most people since it has much better 'steering when depowered'.and comfort characteristics. If you are a racer however you will want the Dyno.

I have ridden the 2011 and 2012 Fuses and they are great for jumping big. I own a 2012 Rebel and I will probably replace it with a Fuse this year.. like you I prefer 4 lines.

Hi,

Thank you everybody for your input (which confused me a little bit...hehe).

Which one jumps higher/longer? Fuse or Evo?
What is the difference between the 2012 Fuse and the 2013 Fuse? I can get the 10m 2012 Fuse for Euro719.00 cheaper than the 10m 2013 Fuse. That's quite significant.

Cheers

I understand you get confused 8)

Because it will usually be personal preferences and experience, and particulary conditions that gives the "impressions" you get as feedback in here.

An example could be, that an almost C kite like the Vegas, will be able to give a really good kick in the ass when going up, so you either GET the highest jump with this one, or you "think" you do, because of the feeling.
Both can be correct actually.

One thing is for sure, it will not give the highest amount of hangtime, as the depower and projected area is too small - but it might be the highest jumper, if you know how to that is...

Then we can take the Evo.
A kite with loads of low end and power for its size, but really low AR.

Meaning, more difficult to get "high" - but when you do, it is a great hangtime kite, as it has more lift for its size, than the other kites.

So if you take off from a wave, you might get max hangtime with the Evo, if you take off from flat water, you might get much better hangtime with the Dyno with higher AR and less loss.

To make it even more difficult - you ask for the kite with BOTH the highest jumps and the longest hangtime ?
They are often mutually exclusive - meaning, fast turning smaller proj. area kites like C kites might jump the highest, but will have the shortest hangtime.
And really flat bow like kites will have the longest hangtime, and the lowest height in jumps.

Not always exclusive - but often, and the feel is definitely exclusive, one accelerates fast and has low hangtime, the other accelerates slow but has long hangtime.

So no wonder why you get confused by the different answers you get, as there might most likely not be a correct answer to that question

I would personally think the Dyno is the best compromise you seek, in the air.
But it will not hold up nearly as good as the others, as it is build "light" - which equals less durable of course. And you seek a strong and durable kite you write ?
Horses for courses, but the Dyno is build for max performance especially in light winds, which is not what you seek, althoug it might be the best compromise jumping machine ?

I know my post might not help you at all, sorry if the case.
But just to explain why there is no "true" answer to the question, as it depends on so many things that are not considered.

Regarding the Fuse and Evo if trying to generalize, I think the Fuse jumps the highest, but Evo just as long or longer, if you get height...

If I were you, I would choose the Fuse because of good allround performance and better durability than the Dyno.
The Fuse because you want a 4 line bridled kite (like I prefer too - but this is mostly because I am a lot into waves), otherwise the Rebel if you wanted a 5 line kite for jumping.

Hahaha, Peter, now you got me completely.
And to top that, a Canadian friend just wrote and suggested the Bandit 6 (he likes the same style of kiting as me which is jumping as high and long as possible).
The kites I currently have do jump higher and longer than anything I had before. I really like their performance but I'm fed up to have them at Carlinhos and Marco (the 2 local kiteshops) every 2 weeks for repair because of bad material and design of components or even worse having to be driven to hospital because the safety system was not functioning.

So for now it is either the Fuse or the Bandit 6.
Do you know by any chance the difference between the 2012 and 2013 Fuse other than the color?
Thank you.

Cheers
