i decided on a wainman quiver. i have a twin tip and surfboard so whats the best quiver for an 80kg rider with 6 yrs kiting. i'll b in all wind and water conditions but am not interested in the big mama. so......

7.5 , 10.5 - with the surf board i might get away with this option.

7.5 , 10.5 , 12 - leaning towards this
7.5 , 9 , 12 ??
6.5 , 9 , 12 ?? - obviously higher top end but not sure its goin to b needed.

There are a lot a variables to consider is this type of decision, and your conditions and preferences are key inputs which you know best.

but my thought is 1.5 M between kites is too close.

If you go 2 kites I'd do the 7.5 and 10.5

If you go 3 kite quiver I'd do the 6.5, 9 and 12

Agree with Nicor here. Fly with a guy has a 9 and 12 and it covers him for 90 percent of winds we get. Except when its really really howling, then a 6.5 would be useful or when it is still howling but not crazy and hipefully some waves 6.5m on a SB. But the 7.5 is a sweet kite though?

If you're going with Wainman kites you gotta have the smoke...it is such a great kite with huge range too. Then you also gotta get the 12, but that would be to have a 12 as I find this kite flies a little different than the other wainmans (probably due to size & double bridle)

For your weight a 6.25 bunny might be a bit too small so I'd consider the 7.5...if the wind is there I like it even more than my 9 meter smoke

9/12. If you really need to kite in 40+ get a 6.5. The 9/12 will cover you from 10kts to 35kts. They are really nice kites.

I'm also 80kg and I have the 12, 9 & 6.5 rabbits... And I get cover for all conditions, I rather have the right sizes kite than swapping from my twin to a surfboard! The smoke is by far my favorite but I also like the hyperactive 6.5 kite! But I think I use the boss most of the times here in LA and I love it...

depends on the water condition at the light end of the wind you want to ride and what the lightest wind you want to go out in is...
i ride a 10.5 and 7.5 and the gap is fine, 74kg small to mid surf and swell with a small directional board

Wainman kites have huuuuge range.

I can only go on what I see my mate of 12 years kiting can do (and he's an exceptional kiter).

He weighs 87kg. The smoke in 30 knots is doable but he is lit of his ass and it's survival huge air time. Been out with him in those conditions on a 9m edge and we both came in dribbling, cross eyed and babbling nonsense like we were on crack...

So at 80kg I would say nearing 30 and above you'd want the 6.5m. Personally I'd go the 7.5m and forget anything above 35..but that's just me not you! But you would use the 7.5m a lot more than the 6.5m which would sit in your shed, unless you have a need for intenseness.

Agree above the 9m is the exceptional size. Honestly he gets away with the 9 and 12 when most of us need a three kite quiver to cover the same range.

You need to define exactly what winds you are targetting and how much time you will spend in those winds and corss reference that with canopy time in the air...there is a dollar/usage cost benefit relationship.

I'm going to step in here to say that for most people a 9M is far too much for a solid 30 knots. I say it might be ok if its gusting to 30, and that depends on your weight and skill set.

To give you an idea, I'm 175 pounds, my 8M lithium (delta design) range 17-28 knots, I use a 5M from 23-35, and don't bother if it any winder than 35 as I find it too much.

Honestly, don't risk injuring yourself by using an oversized kite
