I have broke my ribs several times during hook in jumps but never problems unhooked.

When you jump unhooked all your muscle is "tight" and therefore protect you body much better. ( at least when it comes to broken ribs )

douche you don't sound ready to unhook, learn to pop hooked in before you try a railey. the kite itself doesn't do anything weird when you unhook, but the power of the kite will knock you right on your face the first time you unhook.

Launching unhooked vs hooked in is one of those internet battles, don't expect an answer here.

give yourself about 5 sessions just loading up and popping before you do anything then go watch "Progression" I think intermediate is the right DVD there's an entire section devoted to unhooked riding, how to trim, stance, how to hook back in, all that good stuff.

 When I first read this, I thought "what did this guy do to piss off edt?" It took me a minute to look back at the first page and realize the OP name was douchebag. Fair enough. I might want to change my habbit of just clicking on the last page of a post first.

Good post. Lots of good things to consider.
