andrephillip wrote:...Toby, I stepped away from Cabrinha, I won't be flying their kites anymore. I actually tried to carry on our relationship because we've been together for so long and so I thought that the right thing for me to do was to carry on flying Cabrinha kites and team up with Tona for boards. Cabrinha wasn't happy with the idea of me branching out and growing something that I believe in, something for the future. So they said they want me 100% or not at all. So I chose to leave.
I'm actually even more happy with the kites I'm flying now tho

Dre, you're a stand up guy. Thanks for setting the record straight to put the rumors at rest.
There have been a lot of big names switching brands in the past year and with minimal information to go on, everyone assumes the worst in the rider's old brands and the motivation for moving to new brands. What you wrote makes sense and is in line with what we have seen riders like Dimitri do as he moved from Airush to his own kite brand (Eclipse) and ultimately his own kite & board brand (Epic). I can see why you'd want to branch out but still try to keep ties with Cabrinha, and I can see where it is in Cabrinha's best interests to make a clean break.
Best of luck to you! I'm sure you'll move on to greater things.

D made my 1st custom kite surf board. I've never moved on from quad setups since he sold me on the shape, D is a class act.
