Hifi X?

What is up with the Hifi X? Has anyone tried this kite yet as there seems to be no information on this kite. I see that it appears in various vids and that certain team members use it but there are really no reviews on these kites! How does it compare to the previous hifis's? I see a lot of Nirvana's for sale so I am assuming that this kite didn't do as well as they hoped?

The 2013 Hifi X kite is the 5 line freestyle kite from Liquid Force.
Higher AR than previous generation Hifi and Nirvana. Kite has a huge wind range, lot more depower compared to other kite with no pulleys, Lot's of slack, great lift and hangtime, easy to use safety, 20m + 3m lines,..

Could write a whole article about those kites but wouldn't be very credible from me..( Global Team rider)

Contact the local distributor or your local shop and give it a go!
You're not going to be disappointed!

Tack

Hey Chris,

Thanks for the reply back and how does it compare to the 2009 Hifi's (I have owned both the regular and the comp)? I found that the Hifi was a very user friendly kite that had great upper range. Being 200lbs I could hold down the 15M that I had while others were on 12-13M kites.

Hi James,

I have owned Hifis since 2008 and like you also had both the Comp and regular Hifi in 2009. I found the comp to be very efficient, aggressive and amazing performance but was quite unstable especially at the edge of the wind, for a top rider is was fantastic though! The Hifi was just a little toned down with a slightly deeper canopy and thicker LE, both had great depower though and big top ends with the Hifi having a little lower bottom end.

The 2010 Comp was a bit of a cross between the Comp and Hifi of 2009 with a canopy depth similar to the Hifi but thin LE and struts like the Comp so was stable but also aggressive and efficient, the best of both worlds, the 7 and 9m were some of the best kites I have used.

The 2011 Hifi with the 4 struts was a bit poor, it lost it cutting edge and was too spongy, I held onto my 2010 Comps!

2012 Nirvana was an improvement on the 2011 kite and back to the solid 5 strut design, the deltaish canopy gave it the power and stability but still didn't have the efficiency and performance of the 2009/10 Comps.

The Hifi X is back to what this kite is all about, higher aspect, thin LE and high performance. After using a demo kite back in September and my new 7m I can definitely say it has the solid feel and performance of the Hifi Comps from 2009/10 but is more stable. I remember having to be very careful keeping the 2010 kite in the sky when strapping into bindings, you had to keep tension on the back lines and sometimes gently keep it moving. When I demoed the Hifi X in September I purposefully rode under it to make it drop out of the sky but it drifted back which the older models would not have done as they just hindenburged on your head! It has the same big depower and windrange it has always had which is awesome for boosting and looping as you can go out super powered and go huuuge! Many a time on windy days we have been out on Hifis when guys on Fuels have been getting destroyed and giving up.

Take a look at some photos we took when we demoed it the autumn: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =1&theater

Like Tack said, give one a go, if you liked your 2009 Hifis/Comps you will definitely love this!

Hey Tack and Doggy,

Cheers for the lowdown on the Hifi X's. The Nirvana's are great kites but slightly more chilled out than the Hifi X's. Nirvana's worked brilliantly for some riders but other wanted sharper performance. The Hifi X takes the performance of the hifi comps and wraps it with the ease of use of the Nirvana's. This gives you the best of both worlds and a kite you can have a lot of fun with.

If you fancy demoing any of these badboys or any other LF products, please just get in touch with your local LF retailer. Depending on where you are in the country we should have someone close.

The Kitesurf Centre (Camber), Bracklesham Board riders (East Whitering / Bracks), King of Watersports, Ocean Leisure (London - Embankment), SX Watersports (Essex), Mobius (Perranporth / Newquay), Roho (Yorks), Hunstanton Watersports (Hunstanton), Above Board (Dublin), The Kitesurf Warehouse (N.I.).

If for any reason they do not have what you are after, speak to them and we can arranged to get it down on loan to them for you to test.

We'll also be running LF demo days at various beaches now summer has finally arrived. Watch this space as well as the other forums for dates.

Cheers all.

Hey Posty,

It is about the same as it has been in previous years, not super grunty (as you would expect from a C kite) but powerful and efficient as you build up the apparent wind, if you ride it with fast board speed you can get out in light winds.

Hi there I have a question related to the compatibility of the HiFi 2009 and the new mission bar v3. Is it ok to ride the old HiFi 2009 with the new mission bar v3 with a 5line kit?
