You have nothing wrong with your kite. The ripstop material bends, twists, wrinkles like most products out there. They have to pump your kite up and fold it before its packaged for sale. It's not like an imaginary machine does it perfectly and VOILA! its crisp in the bag.
This is common for all kites not just yours. The tape is for entra reinforcement in stress areas that are prone to un stitch under certain loads and conditions. If I were you, I would stop being anal and go kite!

my 2012 looks like your new one. Odd.
Seems used. New kite material should not have all those wrinkles in it.
I know mine did not.
very strange ...

To me the material looks used somehow. New material doesn't usually have wrinkles everywhere like that.... hmmmmm? Material usually gets that way from bending and that would be lots... material could have even been bunched up before being sewn... not straight from roll.
Airusher wrote:I have problems with materials on my new 2013 North Evo kite.
The kite looks like 2 years used. And it has some tapping near backstitches on canopy.
Canopy feels like newspaper or somthing like that.
But I can tell that the kite has never been in the air, no another signs of use.
I paid for it like for a new brand kite. Dealer said me that this is no problem.
Kite has serial number printed on LE. But no SN on bag.
The bar with this kite (27m Quad control) is absolutely new and is ok.
So, is this normal look for brand new North Evo? Or this is a fake or something like that.

My 2013 Vegas looked exactly the same brand new but after a couple of sessions the coating that caused the slight crinkled look came off.. The kite looks completely normal now..

RideLow wrote:To me that looks like chalking on the UV cover on the rip stop. It has nothing to do with the quality of the material and will be more prominent on some colors than others. This was the same with Cabrinha a few years back. It has nothing to do with the material but rather the bi-effect of the UV coating used.
Dont worry about it and go out and fly it instead.
don't worry? this cloth looks like it was fluttering on the wind for a long time. my 2yo kites cloth is in better condition than that!
big kite brands are just simply arrogant and really sloppy with their consumers.
Airusher, you should demand a replacement.
