I much preferred the old Malibu style graphics but that shouldn't surprise you

nice board as usual, but......from images seems 100% the same identical board costruction and shape (except graphics and pad) since the introduction of wood core in 2010 (I'm the proud owner of a 150 wide)

where are the "round edges" clamed as the news of 2013???

Ps: looking for an old (2008/9) used 150x40 in Europe for a friend, let me know if someone got one to sell...

You need to look closely under the board. The concave flattens out near the edges.

Ohh yeah, the Mako King is a fantastic board. I´ve had the old Original Mako (150x34) and if there was one thing to change about the Mako King is it would be nice if it had the same concave as the original mako. The Original Mako had 18 mm concave BUT the board was just 34 cm wide, so that means that the Concave Radius is much smaller than the concave Radius of the Mako King, hence less "bite". Still The king is my go-to board, and I do also have the Mako Wide (150x40) in my arsenal

So Ocean Rodeo; Any plans to make the Mako King with even more concave?

I've been riding the old foam core King for years. I've epoxied the skin back on so many times in so many places that I expect it to break in half on me someday in the waves. If I bought a new King, what differences could I expect?

Urban, made a 150x 42 full wood mako rip off 4 years ago. cold molded of 5 layers veneer, inner layers at 45 deg. outer longitudinal. it has 25 mm concave relatively flat but constant rocker. it's really grippy, and I can see the point of making flats along rail for easier transitions. that said the concave and curvy outline makes board have massive range, you can hold it in a lot of wind.
still have my Mako 150x34, but only been on it once in 2 seasons since I started strapless surfboard.
was out other day in lighter and flat conditions on surfboard and it was a bit tame. once I get my new core xr2 17, I'll have to pull out the woody. be nice to do some floaty old school jumps and kite loops again..

after reading so many good things about these Mako's I think I should spoil myself

I currently have a 2013 Best Armada 139cm and a 2009 Cabrinha S-Quad 6.1!

I really want to play more in the surf but I struggle with the Cabrinha - not because of the board, but because I just can't get the hang of jybing yet, so I spend a lot of time toeside...

So it seems, the Mako could be my way out of the misery, BUT which size would you recommend???

I am heavy, 100kg, but I would like to use it not only as a waveboard, but also to jump around and just have fun in the water - for me having fun is not kitelooping, but carving, turning, jumping, cruising, small tricks, basically just enjoying the kite and the water...
I am worried if I go for the King, it is too focused on waves and not suited for jumping and general riding...

what do you guys think?

I would go for the Mako King. If yoi dont like it should be easy enough to sell it because it is very hard to find one second hand.
TomW - I do remember that DIY-mako, it is very nice indeed, hat of to the craftmenship. So you went with the 17 core xr2. Should give you ALL lowend you could possibly ask for.
