Looks like the outside line flagging option (aka OSR) is being phased out of the market.
Weren't the inside line releases once considered to have 'less' depower than the outside lines????
Why does slingshot (an obvious front runner in the market) still hold on????
Will never understand why a distressed rider would choose to flag a kite with its leading edge in a position that is more likely to relaunch than one facing away...
What is the message the industry is sending???

It's cheaper to have only one option, obviously...
Less to learn, dummykiter can use primary safety, or ditch kite.
Lame.
I like my Slingshot bars, with 3 options before ditching bar.
Weird things can happen -tangle with another kite, obstacles, release jams, etc.
Options = better

The outside ones are in my opinion are only left in case you were using a four line Ckite with that bar or you lost a fifth line on most modern 5line Ckites. On those kind of kites outside is the way to go. Using it on Bow's or bridled open C shaped kites would be a mistake.

The single line release (one of the centers) systems are safer (most of the time) with bridled kites now, I think.
The OSHandles are still good and should still be there for options.
I think that some people have had trouble with a kite looping/pinwheeling while holding an OSHandle.
I like the option of Oh Sh!ts on both rears.
I have had some really screwed up messes, in some pretty strong winds and still have never ejected a kite completely, but I know I've been lucky.

Inside, outside lines? You mean front and rear (back) lines.

you obviously have never disabled a kite onto a single front line.

if you had, you would realize that (when built right) it is more effective than any other disable method in a number of ways, including complete and instant relief from the pull of the kite (any kite, ever), ease of resetting and continuing to ride, as well as allowing for an attachment location (with below bar systems) that is less likely to allow for leash tangle than any above the bar leash attachment points.

i would recommend you get one.



your list is not really a good list either, there is a big difference between a single centerline leash system and a double centerline leash system. you should look that up.

the message is: pay attention and research your gear

The old 5th line slingshot bar with oh shits, wave genade and 5th line cleat- all the options you might need at some point - there has never been a safer bar and lines system than this I reckon. I really miss it especially on suuuper windy days..

Had Slingshot Octane 14M & 12M C Kites that ran on that bar system.

It depends on the kite whether or not you should be releasing to a single back line at all. Some kites behave worse flagged to a single back line, think spiraling and windshield wipering.

Spiraling is a good sign, it shows it is working properly. Since 2008, nothing has really changed with kites really - except for small things like below bar trim, metal hinged chicken loop releases and rear line adjustments on the wings.

The disappearance of the outside (aka steering...whatever) release is relatively new and is not being advertised...

funny how they dont state "the new so and so, now without the death spiral steering line release!"
