2,000 miles from "civilization" and baby albatroses are dying from junk.

The visible trash are less lethal than the invisible ones.

I also do this everytime I see trash floating or laying around.

Luckily I have to do it less often at my spots now. Not so much trash laying around, but I'm sure it will come again with this summer.

I pulled out of the water a wooden pallet, can't imagine if someone had hit it on a jump or just running over.

yes, wooden sticks etc in the water can be deadly.

Those sticks in the shallow areas or lagoons...I pull it out every time I see it.

I don't want to imagine me thinking of taking it out, not doing it, and then someone gets really injured...I would feel very guilty. Plus, it could be me getting injured.

Good thinking and doing guys :thumb:

Read an article not too long ago that said for every square mile of ocean there is an estimated 2,000 pieces of plastic. I know most of this comes from ships illegally dumping their trash overboard but some people are just lazy.

great topic. i also pick up an unbelievable amount of trash from my kitespots too. but i will say, it is not the kiters here. after a busy kite day, with 50-100 kites out, all day long, there is never a piece of trash around. another good reason to introduce kitesports/watersports and a respect for the environment and our shared space on the earth to others.
