Hi.
bought the supershinn 2013 137x44.

Have not tried it yet but can anyone tell me why they make this board sooooo wide.

Have read that it has gotten great reviews but man this board is wide.

Any comments?

Oh by the way i will be useing the board for allround use and unhooking.

the width is the size, the length is there to accommodate the stance..
The length of the board has far less effect than the width when talking about size, 1cm of width has around 5x as much effect on the boards size as increasing the length by the same amount, so over here we only ever talk about boards by their widths. The length gives more of an indication of stance and feel than size...

Thanks for the info.

But what I really am wondering abount is if the board is to wide for my riding.

My weight is 90 kG.

Only lightwind boards are this wide.

Any comments/experiences.

Hi,
There are a couple of factors to consider. What is the typical wind strength where you do most of your riding? Are you going to ride with boots? If so, then typically, wider is a better choice. Your kites, water conditions(flat vs choppy) all play into the size you should select.
At your weight, depending on the answers to the above, a 44 or the 42 Supershinn would be the choice. I have ridden the 136 x 42 Supershinn (88kg) and found the performance excellent. I also finding a wider board can get you on smaller kite when the conditions are not quite full on.
On the weekend I was riding the Shinn Speedball (47.5cm W) and a Slingshot Darko 142(43.6 cm W) in around 20 knots on a 10m having lots of fun. I like wider boards, faster planing, great pop, solid landing platform. Good luck with your choice.

Shouldn't you have asked this question before buying the board??
The extra width will definitely help you for light winds; is ideal for riding with boots; might help in weird landings. There was a less wide option at 136x42 too

I haven't ridden the 44 wide, but I owned a 136x42 SS and I'm just a few pounds less than you. The SS carries it's waist width through the tip and tail. I found the 42 SS was perfect but it did ride bigger than my 42 Monk. The 44 SS might work well too, but as said, it will work better for lighter winds and smaller kites. I rode the Dundee 44 in Texas a few months ago and loved it. I know totally different board, but the width didn't seem to be a hinderance on the Dundee.

Thanks for your feedback.

I ride 2012 13/9 ozone c4.

90% the 13m beacuse of not to strong winds. Ridings straps because my acl is torn.

Seem si have chosen the right board.

Thanks.

I am ~90kg too, and I have the same board same size. The board has a great range, but a bit less low end that I was expected. I have used mine above 20 knots and feels smaller. So I doubt the size is too big. I am selling mine to replace it with something a bit bigger (like a KG or Nobile XTR) for light winds, since I have another board smaller which covers 12+ knots too.
