Improvement of bar2hip-movement

About me:
Last year I started practicing airpasses and crashed a lot. I set up a bar hanging down from a tree to improve my technique on windless days, which has worked out pretty well as long as I don't have to put a board on my feet.
At the moment (for example : a 313) I stomp one airpass, but I guess that it is some kind of luck, because I start crashing ten in a row or more after that.
Somehow I can't get it done( from what I've seen on pics) to pull cleanly the bar down to my hip with the weight of the board.
Does/did anyone else have this problem and solve it?
How did you do it?
