The next PKRA freestyle tour stop will take place in Sicily, Italy. The lagoons and thermal winds of the town of Marsala will be the perfect venue for the third stop of the year. The lagoons are famous in the world of kite surfing and around Italy for having 28° water and 20 knot thermals every afternoon. The region is made famous by its sweet Marsala wine and for a rich history and a great place to visit and enjoy. The town of Marsala is rolling out the red carpet for the best kiteboarders in the world and celebrities that will be in town for the Marsala Freestyle World Cup 2013.

The first two freestyle events of the season took place in Morocco and France. Once again the freestyle level of the men and the women of the PKRA has improved for the top 24 men and 12 women that compete at every event. On the men’s side of competition Alex pastor from Spain has been the dominant force, winning the first two events. Mark Jacobs from New Zealand has finished second the first two events but could challenge Alex pastor with this powerful riding. Youri Zoon from Holland and current world champion has had a tough year, being disqualified in Morocco and then drawing Aaron Hadlow from England in the second round of France. The return of Aaron Hadlow is also very exciting we will see if he joins us in Italy. Young riders like Christophe Tack and Liam Whaley have been very impressive and tour veterans like Alberto Rondina and Sebastien Gar at been having a tough time keeping their top 10 spots.

With the level this high and so much new talent coming from all over the world, just to qualify into the main PKRA event is a challenge and accomplishment. Once a rider qualifies for the main event the heats are intense right from the beginning and anyone can win.

On the women side of competition Gisele Pulido put an end to Karolina Winkowska’s four consecutive wins and put herself right back in the chase for another world title. Bruna kajiya is also in the hunt even though she finished third at the first two events of the season. Up and comers Novotna from Czech Republic and Anabel Van Wes Trop from Aruba are slowly becoming new challengers to the top three women.

The livestream and live scoring system have become part of the competition and competitors and kite surfing fans can follow closely all the PKRA action.
