Strapless unhooked: Save training method for kids.

Hi there, i am new on this forum and wanted to share this with you all..

Of course you want to give your kids the opportunity to learn how to kitesurf. And of course you want to keep them as save as you can... My kids are out on the streets on their waveboard all the time. I decided to give them an old bar and a Nasa Chute to play with. Gave them the instruction to sent the kite up (or reverse) to brake and drop the bar in case of panic.. This is the result of the first! session. Fun happy faces, and the girls even self invented sinusing the kites...

And Elise (10)

We use no lines or just short lines because of the streetlights etc.. but also for self relaunch convenience. I am sure that this practice will be of great use when starting on the water. Hope that this suggestion is of any use to you kiting fathers and mothers.. and your kids

Edit... Hmm... Youtube embed doesnt seem to work...

Looks cool, and the wave board seems to simulate a kiteboard pretty well, the edging and such..

But, why dont you stick a helmet on their heads? one little rock or piece of gravel, and they go flying..

That's really cool. Your kids are lucky to have a creative Dad like you.
Brand of kite? The next step could be a skim board in the shallows.

It's actually fairly easy to ride with a small kite unhooked and strapless.
It opens up all kinds of freedom of movement in your body. I can see
that in your videos. Only problem is once you master it. You have trouble
adapting to sheetable kites. (which is why I keep riding my pulley bar
and 5M Fuel and spend ~50% of the time riding unhooked)

The edging and feeling is nice. Tried it myself, the feeling is compareable.

They don't wear helmets because they are Dutch girls.... Sort of a habit in the Netherlands... They are on the waveboards very frequenly and never come home damaged.. In the Netherlands virtually nobody wears bicycle helmets... (kids under 5 years sometimes do.. and racing/mountainbikers do). On the Dutch waters you can recognize our German neighbours by their helmets and impact vests... Maybe unwise, on the other hand it could make you more carefull and gives you more freedom to move..

@RTZ : I made the Nasachute myselve (15 years ago), beware they are very powerfull.. A 5 sqm pulls like a 9 meter SLE

@Hein: Thanks! The oldest one is on a sheetable 6m bow as well. She handles it very well. The skimboard is a great idea.. We could trie it with the nasa chute...
