Spent several hours using the new Compstick bar with a 2014 Rally last week. Its very similar to the current 2013 bar with easier depowering using the cleat. The handle has a nicer shape and feels better. The new Guardian safety release requires less force than the previous models, possibly due to the single bungee line vs the double line hooking around the butter box.
Once again ,a nice improvement to an already very good system.

.
Which of my 2012 complaints were fixed ?

The bearings in my swivel are rusted out.

The chicken loop line frays much too soon. Had to replace all 3 after one year.

Replacing the chicken loop is impossible to release the end from the butterbox.

The butter box is hard to grasp when all hell breaks loose.

No bar end bungees like all other brands.

No easy to sort out colored lines, like all the other brands.

not sure if it's the same

Never had to replace one yet

Replacing the chicken loop is impossible to release the end from the butterbox.
See above

The butter box is hard to grasp when all hell breaks loose.
Totally new design that is easy to grip and release

No bar end bungees like all other brands.
No, still the same but the O shit handles have velcro to hold the lines now.

No easy to sort out colored lines, like all the other brands.
Do you REALLY need coloured lines? I sort mine in a minute easily so I don't see the problem.

I mostly ride in fresh water but when in salt water I make sure to rinse after each session.

The chicken loop line frays much too soon. Had to replace all 3 after one year.

You must get out a lot. I use a Teflon Lube, seems to make the CL line last longer.

Replacing the chicken loop is impossible to release the end from the butterbox.

Takes about 20 min to change the line. Cut the line at the butter box, use a pick tool to pull the line off the pin.
The butter box is hard to grasp when all hell breaks loose.

All hell has never broke loose yet.
No bar end bungees like all other brands.

didn't even notice.

No easy to sort out colored lines, like all the other brands

Best lines in the business

1. Why did you remove high contrast white color? It was such a good design, can't imagine reasons to get back to low contrast in 2014.

2. Where to put suicide? Do I need to buy old donkey dick to ride suicide?

3. When you going to fix below the bar trimming to above the bar? Man, I can't imagine how girls/kids/old guys are trimming this shit, if I hardly make it overpowered.

To setup suicide: slip the chickenloop through the red OShit loop at the end of the safety line & attach your leash to the stainless ring. When unhooked and you loose the bar the safety line won't activate but you can still use the Guardian release if need be.

I should also note, to help avoid accelerated wear on the trim line from cleat abrasion: when releasing the trim line from the cleat, pull the hand back towards your body, do not pull out perpendicular to the cleat. Pulling in a perpendicular direction drags the trim line across the teeth of the cleat creating a cutting type action.

I have a team rider who rides 120+ days a year on 2 kites. He has never had to change his trim line over several years of use.

Colored lines wouldn't matter at all in water. However, they totally suck in snow. I rarely unhitch my bar from the kite - especially in snow season. If you unwrap lines and there is a cross-up there is no way to see how to weave the bar so they become clean to the kite because there is no color perspective separating front & rear lines. This then involves a bunch of postholing through snow to get things sorted out which sucks. The other thing that happens in snow is sometimes you ride into a wind shadow or crash & the kite does some oddball maneuvers and a line ends up wrapping or tangling.....again - impossible to see in a snowy background.

For this reason I've quit buying SS kites even though I really like the way the Rally's perform in snow....I use another brand of bar with the Rally's I have that has colored lines and a much simpler & cleaner above the bar depower. Since SS doesn't give any decent discount to -not- buy the kite without the bar I won't buy SS kites any more. There are good options with similar enough flight behaviors.

wish slingshot didnt only offer bar width and line lengths they do

20inch bar w/ 23m lines or 23inch bar with 27m lines? come on 22 inch bar w/ 25m lines would be perfect for my kites.

800lb front flying lines are great.

ive gone thru 3 depower ropes in a fairly short time and 3 chicken loops that needed replacing due to one of the dual wires cracking or completely broken-scary to notice one of those wire broken way off shore.

the safety line bungee thru the bar is a joke -gone thru 3 of those too and 2 of those they broke when i pulled the safety and the kite flew away. the friction of going thru the center and continuously twisting weakens it and they broke w/ bigger kites.

.
I was disappointed that for some reason they didn't actually show the "Guardian" safety in operation.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but it seemed as though the system shown would not work if something was holding the bar back against the CL. If this is the case, there are better safety systems on the market.

Also, I couldn't help but notice that when demonstrating the OhShit operation, they used a GUY instead of the chick, undoubtedly because the kite was pulling substantially as it spun.
