I will never buy this bar.
It is just another proof that Slingshot gives a crap about their customers opinions and experience.

just of curiosity i've measured my brothers airush varial '2012 bars throw. and it was 47cm exactly.
then measured my gaastra jekyll '2012 bar, at factory settings again 47cm!
but wait, you can adjust the bar throw on the gaastra bar! so i make bar throw at max and measured whopping 51cm!!!!!
and i don't even know about all the other kite brands bar throw measures...
talking about "on crack"...
OR Freeride bar is even longer

Sounds like a shittiest solution ever! If you ride unhooked / suicide, last thing you want is some shit loop dangling around your chicken loop, when you try to hook back.
I've moved from North to Slingshot because of simple and effective bar with no clutter. Now SS use same "system" for suicide.
What a silly move, Slingshot...

I would tend to agree. After trying a couple things with the 2014 bar,I found the best solution to be the 2010-13 Donkey Dick instead of the new one. This will give you a suicide attachment like the previous model Compsticks. Or ride without the DD.

Is the donkey dick removable? It is the first thing I take off my bars when I set up my kite for the first time?

Yes, it is bolted on for 2014. The previous models used velcro as the method of attachment.
