Trying to choose kite for light wind

Postby Pit-on » Sun Jun 30, 2013 11:45 am

Hi!
I need kite for riding 10-16 knots. I am 83kg and use 135/41cm board.
Maybe Rally 12m?

Many posts on this subject! If you use the the search function you will have enough reading material for the whole day.

Having said that, at your weight and with that board 10-16 kts will (imo) require a larger kite (at least 15M). There are many good kites out there from almost every brand.

If you want a faster turning kite for the ocean and going down wind get a lower aspect kite.

If you want a kite that develops power through apparent windspeed, with good boost and hang time, get a higher aspect kite. This kite will work well on flat water.

Don't forget that you can tackle the low wind equation with smaller kites (10m - 12m) if you get some sort of race board.

Hope this helps
