Thanks edt. you saved me some $ I was going to spend on an assumption.
I suppose I could run the 1/8" am steel up 6m and then switch to to q-power, not sure how the am steel would stretch compared to the opposite q-power line though...?

basically, none.
amsteel is spectra and stretches ~5% at breaking, which for 1/8 inch is 2500lbs. Might as well use the 7/64, it's still good for 1600lbs and less bulky. At half load it might stretch 2% or so, at normal kiting loads 50-200lbs or so, it will not stretch significantly.

That's one way to do it. 1/8" am steel doesnt stretch too thick 2500 breaking strength -- q-powerline usually just stretches one time the first time you put about 300 pounds on it, after that it seems to hold, where regular kite line will creep in length over the years.

neither should stretch at all. I run 1/16th inch 1.75mm 800 pound regular kite line up above my safety system, if you run this thick amsteel above your V you will have unequal line lengths -- if you snap a line you can't just swap in a new set of lines -- mite be inconvenient.

Check out the Naish's online store, the 2011/2012 bars go for more than reasonable prices and the only difference between the 2013 and 2012 bars is that for the 2013 the bar it-self is a little thinner.
