Lines to me are #1 for safety and reliability.

Why are other companies lines still not up too par with slingshot? At first glance you see the differance in center lines thickness and also lack of easily tangleing and kinking. I know I will always ride slingshot just because they do not go cheap on the little things !!!

I don't know about all companies but Airush are using the same quality wise lines as SS. Nice thick 800# lines for the front with little to no stretch after a full season or 2. Steering lines can stretch a little especially after a day of big loops but same as most.

I like the heavier front lines, but when the fronts and backs are different, it is harder to keep the whole set even.
I like to switch my fronts and backs often enough to keep the stretch even, does not work as well with the Slingshots.

Blade is also using 800 lbs fronts.

Last weekend, maybe two weekends ago, I saw a kiter on an Airush Lithium 2013 12M jump and land real close to another kiter on a Rally 2013 14M.

They were so close that the Airush's dive ate the Rally!

What I mean is that the Airush's path was such that the Rally went inside the lines of the Airush, completely.

So, I was standing at the beach, and saw how the guy on the rally released his kite...

Nothing bad happened though, cause the lines on the right side of the Rally were cut, sliced!

How did this happen? don't know, but it seems the Airush cut the Rally!

True story!

I fly SS, btw,

Ocean Rodeo uses 650# lines on front and rear on their bars. Very nice quality lines. 800# seems to me a bit of over kill unless you really crank on the bar a lot or are a bigger person. One nice thing about the 800# centers though is you can tie figure 8 knots in them to shorten without weakening the line.I wonder if there is a small performance disadvantage with the extra weight of heavier lines?

Totally agree with you. 800# per line is over kill. Even after you calculate force into the equation it's more than any kiter will ever need.

Excellent post.
Noticed cabs don't either...all that fancy engineering in the bar and stretchy lines...
