New Heavyweight group forum on here

Postby bigjohn » Thu Jul 11, 2013 12:40 am

Toby was kind enough to add a "Heavyweight" section to the group forums.

Hoping to generate gear discussion and equipment upgrades with fellow people over 210lbs (95kg).

Hopefully we can make it easier to keep all the great info that has been discussed/will be discussed in one area.

Here is the link.

Hopefully I'll be a "temporary" member of this group, I'm down to 221 and going to try for 205

Thanks kite2heaven.

PJ Sofine. Past members of the heavyweight class still get to weigh in.

I know I owe my successful progression and gear selections to gleaning knowledge and experience from fellow heavyweights I chatted with from here who have flown the gear, rode the boards and advised accordingly. No point trying to reinvent the heavy flintstone wheel.

Also, Feel free to make mention of the "Heavyweight group" forum here in your internet forum travels.

Hopefully we can all gather to help make it easier for those to follow in our giant foot steps.

... I well and truly qualify,,,,, 265 pounds or 120 - 125 kg! Good idea BigJohn! :thumb:

When I started kiting I was 130 kg, got down to 112 kg due to all walking back upwind, then learnt to go upwind and now back to 120 to 125 kg (depends if I get a few days of kiting in a row).

See you over there!

cheers,

Robbie :D

Damn another club I can't join! This is smallism I tell you smallism!!!!

Yeh good idea guys as you heavier riders need certain gear as this sport is still suited to lighter riders and most gear is geared to that 80 to 85kg mark to.

I was out SUPing with a local guy here..I think he is in the 350+lb class...the fricking paddle looks like a toothpick to him. He snapped it too..happens all the time he said....I imagine being big put a whole new class of pressure on the kite frame.
