This excites me so much! The most common wind here (NJ) is around 10-12 mph during the summer. I've missed so many good 18-22 mph sessions this summer because of work and other engagements. I just ordered the Cloud 17 last week and can't wait to get it.. Glad to see someone with similar weight as me testing out TT in under 10mph winds..

Sometimes when I'm not on it, it feels like I can't see with my eyes closed without touching.

Hi y'all (already posted)
How would you compare to other kites the BRM Cloud upwind capability (for the same board of course)?
Let's say what Cloud size you are talking about.
Thanks

ozonelevel,

i am replacing my 15m edge as well. looking at wainman boss, big mama, and 13m cloud.

how well does the cloud do in mid to upper teens? whats the sweetspot?

how much wind does it take to keep it in the air? better than the edge? sometimes our wind drops to 5 on light wind days for a few minutes at a time.

does the kite feel like a "big" kite? some 13m kites do and some don't. definitely the 15m edge feels huge and slow turning. looking for a nimble light wind performer.

I rode a friends Cloud 17m the other day in 10-12mph. I'm 205lbs and i was on a door. First impressions: It did flutter a bit, but that was expected with a strutless kite and light wind. definitely had enough power to not have to go downwind, i could pretty much get back to where I started. The kite was surprisingly quick, as compared to the 17m Dyno which was truely hard and slow to turn. I was impressed with the kite. the only thing I found odd was the kite would completely power up and then kind of depower at odd times. hard to explain... i might need more time on the kite to figure out its nuances. Overall, I liked it as a light wind kite. I am interested to see how it relaunches in deep water...

I'm 150lbs, so for me sweet spot is 10-12kts. Around 15kts becomes too much for me.

Takes very little wind to keep it in air. You can literally walk and keep it flying in no wind. It is definitely an apparent wind kite. In under 8kts you don't feel power until you get going. Definitely will stay flying in lot less wind than the 15 Edge, even down to 5.

It's way faster than the edge, for me it's as fast as a 10. The Edge goes upwind a little better, but it's a straight line kite, turning it feels like a truck, where the Cloud feels light and nimble.

After handling the cloud other big kites feel so heavy and slow that you don't want to go back to them.

The Edge does jump higher and floats longer once you manage to turn it.

can you self launch the kite off the wing tip using a tether?

i would think it might be a problem doing that if there is no wind in the sail from being fully depowered?
