for 18 to 25knots you could probably get away with a 9m but will be holding on in the upper end. For 18 to 35 I'd suggest a 9,7,5 quiver. If you really need to cut back on kites get a 9m and 6m.

If it helps I'm 190lbs. I am getting a 6,8,10

10m 12 to 18knots lightwind kite
8m 16 to 24knots everyday kite
6m 22 to 35knots high wind kite (prob won't use it in more than 30knts) but if i really have to will take it a bit over.

Stefaans - At 190 lbs. how do you get a 10m going in 12 knots and have any fun? Are you riding in glassy water with a big surfboard and doing downwinders? Where I'm from with onshore winds and onshore wave energy there's no way I could have any fun on a 10m with a standard surfboard. And I consider myself a light wind specialist at 165lbs. You either have very specialized skills or are riding very special equipment...

Kiterunner - I do believe you're a bit unsafe with riding a 9m up to 35 knots. Thats 40mph. Most riders would call that 5-6m weather. How much fun would you have riding with the kite above your head all the time?

My range is more like:
15-22 knots = 10m
20-28 knots = 7m

*And thats my Dice and Rev, two non grunty kites with my 165 lbs. and standard surfboard

So I'm thinking if Kiterunner is choosing between a 10m and a 9m Reo to serve up to 40 mph then definitely go with the 9m and hold on

Hi Mark, yeah 12knots is pretty light. I have 2 surfboards with me all the time. 5'10" Fish i only ride when its light and small. won't take it in head high at 12knots.
On the previous Reo's I would ride in 13knots so just guessing i could make the new 10 work in 12knots.

Thank for the info. It is helpful. I am coming from an 8M Ben Wilson and know there powers are different. I am not that concerned about the 30 to 40 Knots, as we hardly ever get there over here. My mostly windy days are prob 20 to 30. These are slimier conditions I ride when I travel to Brazil or DR. At this range I will always be good with the 9 but my question of the day is what happens when its 17 to 20. That's why I was thinking of getting the 10M. (I also have a 12M Ben Wilson for super light days, which i really don't really enjoy riding anymore)

A lot of this is your weight and the board(s) you use... And conditions... Tell me more

It really comes down to are you a 2 kite quiver guy or a 3 or a 4? And then based on the above variables you make your choice...

You know - one kite I know a fair amount about is the SS Rally 2013-2014... If I had to have a 2 kite quiver I'd go 12m and 9m. It's a grunty kite and I rode the 9m in steady 23-27 knots with some depower and it was very stable. 3 kites 12, 9, 7. 4 kites 12, 10, 8, 6...

Another point - Stefaans has a board that I have (close to it) - I have a big wide Fish 5'7 x 21 1/2 twin keel and that board can seriously push the bottom end of both of those kites and I have fun!

I am ordering a new REO and read that the this year's models are a little more powerful then last.

I am debating if I should get a 10M or a 9M

I am a 195 pounds, and I ride a surfboard. I would like to use it in 18 to 35 knots.

Any feedback would be great.

You can't do 18-35 with one kite and have fun at either end!...

At 82kg I was trimmed and balls to the wall 25-28 knots on the 10m. Note i'm on a mutant and ride more powered that most surfboard riders.

You wont be able to hold the 10m reo in 35 knots. it will be trying to kill you.

Go a 10-7 combo.

So...A quick update.

I went with the 9M Reo. I was fortunate to have a couple of amazing days here in South Florida with winds of 20 to 30 knots.

I was using my new 9M Reo and a surfboard. (I weigh about 195 lbs.)

All I can say is that this kite rocks (!!!) So fast. Reaction time is so great that it almost feels like the kite is an extension of you.

I only used it in three sessions so far, but it really does feel like an amazing kite. Material looks very rugged. The inflation valve is very strong, and has an extra material that covers it with a velcro connection so when it is in use, nothing can touch it.
