Will we see a Psycho5?
We are working on a new Foil with medium aspect ratio right now. Maybe we will call it PSYCHO 5.

Life_is_Awesome :In your opinion, what are the main areas for foil improvement? How about for inflatables?
For foilkites for example one direction where’s much space left is towards higher performance. Performance means lift to drag ratio (=upwind, speed...). The Speed at the moment has around L/D 7, we already build paragliders in our paraglider section (www.skywalk.info) with L/D 10. So this is possible, but the Speed is orientated also very user friendy and easy to fly. Such a high performance foil will be hard to fly for sure. And will cause production costs similar to a paraglider.

Within inflateables, we just started now with the Cronix to adjust the airfoil during flight. We have also a patent on this. Every sailor trims his sail, and also every airplane wing does it via flaps.
So we will see how far we can go with this technology.
But we are also working on several other concepts. We will see, what works best, will go into a serial product. The rest not of course. :-)

Poacher : Any plans for some bigger, lightwind sizes for the Cronix?
15m or 16m maybe?
A high performance high AR kite like the Speed3/4 works better in lightwind. So this is the kite to choose for lighter winds in our portfolio. Therefore we will not add any bigger Cronix sizes.

TeabagVic - On the inflatable side (for the future) do you guys think it would be possible to create an inflatable that has the same big air characteristics and floatation as the Speed3 or it would be physically impossible?
We’re currently working on several different concepts, but we can’t say yet how far we can push the concepts. So far our high AR foilkite prototypes are still best at hangtime.

Calvin_1 : Any plans to some wave or skim or directional fun board (e.g. comparable to north nugget) (preferably with split option)?
We’re working on a fast directional board which in optimised towards lightwind riding, damn fast speed, and still easy to ride through jibes and tacks.
We all love it when there’s not enough wind for a small Twintip. So at the moment we only have one prototype and the last time testing were always fighting who can ride it! ;-)

Calvin_1 : What are the pros and cons between the split option of the nobile boards and your approach (more teeth in flysplit)
Out splitboard was developped in cooperation with Nobile, both boards will be released at the same time. The zigzag connection is very similar, we have one more zigzag for a smoother force distribution. We don’t want to affect the flex of the board, so that it rides 100% like a normal kiteboard.
The fixation mechanism of our board is also a bit different. So in these technical details, Nobile and we decided to go for different solutions.

Sizes:
Here we also have different range as Nobile:
We will offer one 134*41 (almost like Radical4 M), and Flydoor L 160*44 (like Flydoor L)

We already works since several years on the splitboard, and during the last years also showed our prototypes to our importers and dealers.
The real challenge was to develop an economical production technique for it. Earlier prototypes were much to expensive.

Really interesting !

I've flown the Psycho 4 and was quite impressed by its overall handling ability :D
But missed the rigidity of an inflatable so to speak, especially in "severe" gusts (thus lack of wind too just after).

To see if "inflatable" trim during flight is possible and worth it (compared to foils where it works) is really exciting.
Time will tell 8)

Also interesting to see the newer foils in races, as there seem to be some REALLY performant ones now :D

Thank you for contributing to the development :thumb:

Which foil kites will get an update or will be abandoned (unity, psycho, viron)
Viron will be continued. The Psycho with a bit Unity is planed to get into one product with medium AR. We have more foils and other concepts in research.

I liked Speed3 -series at lot so I've owned all sizes as DLX. Will I like bigger sizes (>12m2) Speed4 as well? :) This is because I am doubtful with my Speed4 10DLX if I like it.

Is Speed4 aspect ratio/wing span similar to Speed3 of similar size?

Speed4 most probably flies faster as probably there is rigid LE and less bridles. How about turning compared to Speed3 of similar size? Is Speed4 21 better turning than Speed3 21 was?

Has lift coefficient max changed a lot? Will Speed4 15 pull&glide me as well as Speed3 15 does at the same wind range?

Will you have a race kite only one day?

calvin_1 wrote:What about a 13.5 Speed 4? Perfect size to combine with 8 and have a 2 kite range :D
Thanks for the suggestion :D
In combination with an 8 you could use a 12 (or even a 15) as second kite, depending on your riding style. 8 and 12 fit together perfectly, but you lack the lowest lowend. 10 and 15 fit together perfectly as well, but then you lose bit on the high-end. With 3 kites you can cover nearly every situation.
